I brought my DVD player last year in hopes of showing off some movies but I was stymied in my attempts to get the TV switched over to input mode (neither the set nor the hotel-issue remote control seemed to have an option for that). Since I was unable to find this issue in the forums here, I must assume I was just inept...unless there really is no way to do it. Does anyone recall how to make it work? Or did everyone else just bring their laptop...!? |

I recall the front jacks were unusable, but I think that the rear jacks were auto-sensing or that there was a selector switch on the front of the tv. I posted about it in last year's forum.

Not related to the original poster's question, but I just wanted to mention that the old forums will be going away very soon. This is mainly due to the occasional newcomer following an outdated link to them and becoming confused.

Sorry about that one. I had a link to the old forums sitting in my bookmarks, so I clicked on it not even realizing that they are not really linked to anymore. My bad XP.

No problem. In fact, I just made the switch, so http://forums.anthrocon.org/ is now no more.

Thanks for the tip. I'll have to look more closely at it this time.

It's no problem. What we did was play a DVD off of one of our laptops, and plug it into the TV so more people could see it. It just seems like a waste to bring a DVD player if a laptop can perform that function and be plugged into the TV among other things. Just one less thing to carry with you right? (Assuming you have the proper connectors)

Also, there were multiple types of TVs in use at the convention center, I saw at least three different brands and models in use in various rooms. Some were fully-featured, some were crippled.
