Pre-Registration Ending this Sunday, June 5th!
Eleven months of day jobs, and mowing the front lawn
We've kept in touch on Livejournal, and gone to other cons
But even though WoW and SL, have made for furry games
Without friends there in person, it's simply not the same...
The time has come to load the van
with sketchbooks, clothes and snacks
Hop onto Amtrak or AirTran
or paddle our kayaks
What's left to do, there's one more thing
That would be really fine
Pre-registering for the con
So you won't wait in line!
Reg-is-tra-tion, Reg-is-tra-tion!
Let's finish before it's gone
Reg-is-tra-tion, Reg-is-tra-tion!
'Cause soon it's Anthrocon
'Cause soon it's Anthrocon!
Badges, prints, and masterworks
an artist's job begins

Reg-is-tra-tion, Reg-is-tra-tion!
'Cause soon it's Anthrocon
'Cause soon it's Anthrocon!
Fursuiters will be dressed up
with tails that really twitch
Their makers have spend weeks on them
perfecting every stitch
They act and sing, dance around
in the Masquerade
and then they all get in a line
For the Fursuit Parade!
Reg-is-tra-tion, Reg-is-tra-tion!
Let's finish before it's gone

It is. I prefer to see if people can figure it out for themselves.
Heh.
Let me put it this way....
I've found that it fits the proper meter for a ballad.
I only know one ballad by heart, AFAIK.....
Winter Wrap Up! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyrAkwJ6WsY
Whilst reading it, it gave me strange thoughts - I kept getting visons of a Gryphon and a Mock Turtle, and a Walrus. And I'm pretty sure there was a Carpenter in there, too, Time to change Lobsters, and get back into the dance.
*A snare drum starts a slow, muted tattoo to a Bolero tempo*
One line's wait is longer
And one line's wait is slight
And the line for Pre-reg Sponsors
Has hardly any line in sight
Go ask Tyrrlin, if this seems right
And if you had plans for dinner
(And you now know you'll be late)
Remember a Mongoose in a Toque Blanc
Had warned you of this fate
Plead to Chiaro, but prepare to wait.
When all of the Dorsai
Keep you formed in one long line
Which moves Oh So Slowly, and
You're at the end, holding the sign
You must accept it, and you mustn't whine!
As Boredom and Impatience
Overwhelm you, make you bow
And the folks who paid beforehand
Are out doing fun things now
Remember, to heed Tyrrlin's Vow -
PRE-REG NOW! PRE-REG NOW!!
PRE-REG NOW!!!

Now this, I got; being 50 helps
For the under-30 crowd who doesn't listen to classic rock radio stations, check this out...
"feed your head" with eats from the many fine establishments in downtown (or should I say DAHWNTAWN )pittsburgh..like primanti brothers! oh and dont do drugs kids !
Yah, Ron. You know that you're a greymuzzle when you have to wonder if the younger Furs have ever heard a classic song like "White Rabbit"! A song that came out when you were seven.
But it also works the other way around. Trying to keep from getting generation-gapped by all the young pups, cubs, kits, chicks, calfs, foals, larvae and hatchlings in my favorite fandom is part of what helps keep me young!
Soggy
Oh, it can get worse than that.
One of the classic blues tunes has recently been used as the background music in the advertising for a certain product, which is definitely not aimed at the current generation. It is only the base instrumental background, because the primary melody is a vocal (which the commercial doesn't play), but the theme is unmistakable - and most of the target audience won't recognise it, and the collateral audience (at whom the product is not yet aimed) won't ask what it is, because they woudn't admit any interest or need for the product itself.
I'm talking about the latest "Viagra" commercials, which have become a little more subtle and sophisticated. The song is the iconic blues piece, "Smokestack Lightnin'", by Howlin' Wolf.
It's a good song, I'd love to see the "Stuff 'n Such" folks do a video of this, with the Etta James cover version sometime. Written before many of us were born, of course, but further marginalised because it is not "pop" or "rock".
Actually - I'd like to see more interest from younger folks in music other than just rock, regardless of when it was written or by whom, whether that be by Beethoven, Strauss, Herb Alpert, Sergio Mendez, Antonio Carlos Jobim (Sambas! Bossa Novas!), or George Gershwin or Rachmaninov; sadly, if it isn't in a commercial, it just isn't heard anymore...
Green Onions, anyone?
Hmph; we're younger, but we're not complete gourmands.
Personally, though i prefer the recent blue man group cover--not because newer is better, but because i'm a sucker for syncopation, which the original lacks.
Hey, don't blame ALL of us people under 30 for not listening to and enjoying classic rock. I listened to oldies back when I was a kid and still do on occasion. (I've got Danny & the Juniors' "At the Hop" on my iPod.)
Haha! That's awesome. Yay Winter Wrap-Up!
You too?? Woo *brohoof*
Nice adaptation, by the way. I couldn't help singing part of it!
*hoof-bumps back* Well thanks.
Even pre-reg has a pretty long lineup
That is true, as far as it goes. However, since the information and payment is already in the system, the line moves a LOT faster. Plus, we have multiple lines divided alphabetically by last name.
When pre-reg first opens up there are longer lines but as Tyrrlin said those lines move a lot faster. The pre-reg lines usually die down within 1-2 hours of reg opening. Onsite lines will be long the whole day.
That's largely because people start lining up well before registration opens. Now, if people would instead spend the time visiting the Toonseum or some of Pittsburgh's other fine cultural attractions, or even hang out in the Zoo (or at the zoo, for that matter) until the opening time or an hour or two later, they probably wouldn't have much of a wait on line at all!
lol
Yep, I know ^_^

Is this suposed to be sung to the tune of any specific song? i'm imagining "want you gone" from portal 2...
