Anthrocon 2011 Programming Schedule

We are pleased to announce that the Programming Schedule for Anthrocon 2011 has been finalized!

We will provide you with copies of this information in a handy pocket-sized booklet when you register and/or pick up your badge at the convention; however, we like to provide this information to you in advance so that you can see what events are being offered and that you may begin planning your own convention itinerary.

Be aware that this schedule is subject to change due to availability of panelists and other circumstances outside of our control. Remember, "The best laid plans of mice and men only prove that the men should have left the planning to the mice," or something like that. We are working on preparing big poster-sized versions of the schedule that we will post at stratetic locations around the convention and which we will keep updated with any last-minute changes. You may also refer to the monitors at the Westin for any changes, news, or updates as they are received. Important updates will also be posted on our Twitter Feed (@Anthrocon).

Here is a copy of the programming guide, available online:

As soon as I saw this announcement, I felt the need to post a reply as soon as I could. As soon as the schedule hit and I took a look at it, I couldn't help but notice my panel was not in the schedule. I don't know who to contact about my query, so I'm making a reply here. I wanted to do a "How to Commission a Fursuit" panel, but now I am saddened I'll have to wait another year. Sad :(

There seems to be a definite gap in communication to those who are offering to run panels. At least TELL us no thank you, you know?

Everything looks good so far.  Still running the Rock Band tournament (I chuckled seeing the repeat of my description from last year), and never got any word back from the guys formerly in charge of the DDR tourney.  If someone else steps forward, or if people bring decent pads, it'll definitely happen.

Just noticed the metalfurs panel.  I find it...interesting, considering the issues I've had with trying to schedule an unofficial hip-hop/alternative electronica meetup.  Maybe I should just submit it as a panel instead of bringing it up on the forums.  Might stop by to check it out.

Looks great! I'm curious if there will be any sort of 'My Anthrocon' website set up, similar to what FC and another con have done in the past (ie. http://my.furtherconfusion.com ). This seems like a great idea for people to plan their schedule in advance online =)

Looks great!

Though one error I noticed concerns the charity and art auctions on Sunday. The scheduling grid shows the charity auction at 1PM and the art auction at 2PM, but the descriptions list both auctions as starting at 1PM.

Just wanted to point it out!

My bad, I missed that when I checked it over. The Art Show auction is at 2 pm, so the grid is OK. It's correct on sched.org and will be correct on all the signs and Art Show handouts. Well, at least if someone does look at the wrong time, they'll show up early rather than late.

(Fun Fact: Much of the Art Show paperwork, including the schedule sign and handouts, are printed from layouts in my database. I only have to revise the dates and times in one place and the changes appear wherever required. I'm a lazy lion.)

For faster answers to any Art Show question, please e-mail art-2012 (at) anthrocon.org. I visit the message boards here only a couple of times a week.

Oh, I had figured ya got the page numbers of the pdf and the page numbers printed on the pages of the document mixed up... I know that happened to me once when looking for something in that document.

But I'd looked at the whole thing... I see two possibilities: Either I jumped timestreams again, or I missed it since the name got changed somehow.

I saw no panel for first time convention goers, or anything about the mentoring program.

I see dealer's setup listed Friday morning, but will the room be open Thursday night for early dealer set-up this year?

The problem from last year is reoccurring. I still haven't heard a "yes" or "no" about the panels I submitted for this year.
