I just tried to book a room at the Omni and they are claiming to only have smoking rooms with double beds available. If I try and book the room outside of the group rate, they have non-smoking double beds, but at 3x the price. I have asthma, and staying in a smoking room is really not an option for me. Is there anyway to expand the block to include some more non-smoking rooms? Any magic you can pull to help me out? The hotel didn't seem all that interested in my situation. -Hux |

permalinkAs I said -- they do still have smoking rooms available, but as of right now, I'm still not seeing non-smoking rooms.

permalinkI hope their site is broken (or that they haven't added the block), because I just went to check for a non-smoking quad room and got this:

Sorry, there is no availability for the days requested, please try other dates.

Geez , with rooms filling up that fast , almost makes you think there will be much more people than last year o.o

permalinkI would think so. The last several cons sold out quicker and had decent jumps in attendance. It makes since that AC would follow suit. I am from NE Ohio, recently our local furry group has come to life and we will have quite a few in attendance and suiting at AC. We have fursuit construction meets scheduled to help make sure those that want ears, tails, partials or whole suits get them done in time for AC.

OK, here's the scoop, as of 12:00 noon on Friday, March 30:
The Omni is sold out of all room types except for non-smoking queen-bed rooms on Thursday, July 5. There are 47 of those rooms available that night. No other type of room is available at this time.
Non-smoking doubles (rooms with two double beds) are once again available on Friday, July 6. There are 16 of those rooms currently available, and likewise on Saturday. There is no telling at this moment just how long those rooms will last.
If you still need a room and cannot get the type of room you want at the Omni or Westin, you can try some of the other nearby hotels. We have not been able to arrange a convention rate with these hotels this year, but by booking online you can still find some rates that are close to those at our two primary hotels.

Gosh, it's a shame nobody wants to come this year, isn't it? *grin*

Well, no, we still have a number of non-smoking rooms with queen beds in them.

Who, exactly, *did* say that, anyway? Or shall you leave him anonymous because it's such a great quote? ^^

It's attributed to legendary baseball player Yogi Berra, who had a knack for mixed-up sayings -- "The future ain't what it used to be," "It gets late early out there," "It's deja-vu all over again." At the peak of his career in the 1950s he was so well-known that Hanna-Barbera named their cartoon bear after him.
