Ok i've done some research on furries, I want to get a suit and not have it look too funky as I'm a guy and straight ( Which i've done research and found its leegand to find? *confused*)  I'm looking to go off to the darkish end with a black panther look, maybe with electric blue lightning strikes and such... kind of rare of thing to look for.

What would be the best way to start out at and where would I be able to find such things for myself as a guy?  Mind you I am 24.

There are a ton of fursuit artists and well, lets just say you're not at all rare.   Livejournal has a large community of fursuit builders, the hardest part will be picking someone to do the work for you.   First step might be detailed drawings of what you want everything to look like, sketches with designs and colors.

indeed, I have looked a bit further, and found some designers and artists that are able to make a fur suit.  Though more of the main question is, is there an online place where I may find and buy some fur asseccories, mind you I live in upstate NY, I would like to give it a tryout first.  As well as any information for a Male Panther/Cat looking, typically they can be viewed mainly as females, would a wolf outlook be a bit better for placing the view of sex as an animal at first view? I wouldn't like to look too feminine.

well, if you don't pad your chest out you won't look like a girl.  If you're looking for material, faux fur, Distinctive Fabrics seems to be quite popular. Is that what you meant by accessories?

Faux fur I did notice yes, and possible glow in the dark.  As well as accessories im speaking of, attach on tails, leg warmers as possible, maybe a coat/vest and collars, think of it as going to a club or rave part (no drugs involving at least to me) and having a good time type of things, snazzy like.

If you're worried about attention from anyone who might be gay or bi, maybe you should rethink Anthrocon.  They're pretty accepting of those things.  From my experience, guys fursuit as female characters with comically oversized breasts and feminine attire, while girls don't bother with padding the chest, since the attention is toward the suit as a whole and not just BOOBS IN THE FACE.

Unless your worry is that your suit will come off as too...I don't know, "gay".  If so, you're also out of luck, because it's hard to judge sexual orientation by appearance.  Unless you use the lips method.

I don't think you need to worry about perception of your sexual orientation. Most people I know won't really even think of that sort of thing when looking at a suiter. It's not really on our radar - most suiters are really in it for the performance. Smiling

In general, you can tell the gender of a suit pretty easily using subtle cues (a lot of builders use eye shape and muzzle shape to subtly hint at gender) and body language, which unless you're effeminate out of suit will come through pretty clearly. Also, unless you pad the suit, there's other hints as well (the general contours of the suit on the wearer tell a lot, guys have a lot less curve. :b)

In summary, I wouldn't worry. If you want to suit, suit. Have fun with it. MOST people are not thinking about those things.

True enough Proto, most suiters are going to look at how cleanly you hooked your seams Smiling
