The fireworks celebration in Pittsburgh will take place at Station Square about a mile southwest of the Convention Center, at 9:30 PM on July 4. Unfortunately, the fireworks will not be directly visible from the Convention Center -- there are too many tall buildings in the way. In order to see the fireworks you will have to head south to the Monongahela River. There are three ways to do this: 1) Walk south (left turn out of the Westin) along 10th St. and follow it around the curve as it turns into William Penn Pl. Walk down to the Blvd. of the Allies and turn right, then after 1 block turn left onto Smithfield Avenue. Keep going until you are either on the Smithfield Bridge, or in the river itself. 2) Hop a cab. Can any local Pittfurs tell folks where to find the best places to view fireworks at Station Square (and which places to avoid)? |

While not directly related to the Independence Day celebration (and I bet that Pennsy Folk probably put more heart into theirs than many of our west coast communities), I was wondering what the Baseball situation might be like.
Are there any Pirates games scheduled during AnthroCon? And if so, whom are they hosting?
