I have been utterly bronified... *resigned brohoof*
But now I'm HAPPY!!! And full of LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP!!! Let me SHARE IT WITH YOU!! >:D
*everyone runs screaming into the streets*
But really, the show is a 'bronified' (RIMSHOT!) phenomenon, breaking all sorts of barriers, setting new trends, and gaining a massive worldwide fanbase faster than any television cartoon I can remember.
I think one of the biggest contributors to its success is that the people who work on it also love it, and are uber-geeks and fans themselves!
Some have already even cosplayed as some of the ponies! Girls just wanna be ponies!
Animators loving the show they're animating?! Doesn't that break some rule of the universe? If it does, that's just further PROOF of the show's phenomenal cosmic powers! D:
it has
If I know two things about furries and memes, it's this.
1. Furries love their memes.
2. Furries are always super late to the meme party.
If Kage has a cutie mark, i'm pretty sure i don't want to know about it.
A wine glass, of course.
But I just had a horrible thought: instead of tramp stamps on their lower backs, people are going to start getting cutie marks tattooed on their hips.
(sings) I Always wondered what fur-ries could beeee
Chorus: My little Kage
(sings) Then we moved out of Albany!
*I can't think of any more. Someone else continue?*
*sing* Filly-delphia!
*sing* Adam's Mark!
*sing* On to Pittsburg,
*sing* Near some Pirates' park!
*sing* In the Westin,
*sing* Which we've overflowed.
*sing* The hotels barely take the load!
*sing* Of My Little Furries... cuz you we are the craziest faaaaaans!
Pittsburgh has an H there at the end. We`re very picky and particular about that
Yeah, it's only been 100 years since you got it back
I wonder why MLP seems to be breaching beyond its young female target audience. Though those beams would be a very convenient (and practically bloodless) way of solving the world's conflicts.
LAuryn Faust`s work on the show is probably a big factor. She had a track record of working on several good animated shows. Alos never underestimate random luck too.
i still don't get it...
but i do wonder how long this meme will stick around.
any thoughts from the people out there?
edit: we should totally take bets.
I think it'll depend on the next season's stories. If they meet or surpass last season, then I think the fan culture will be cemented in place. An excellent second season will be akin to a second stage rocket booster kicking in, propelling the series beyond the bounds of memedom into the stars of legend!
Which, naturally, would make it at least 20% cooler. ;3
If I read that link, I'd better erase it from my browsing history. Traditional gender roles and all.
Likewise this shorter version (edit) or this (edit 2) or this?
Edit 3: and now it's gotten to where they need their own "dealing with the media" guidelines...
Edit 4: even the Wall Street Journal's noticed it...
The world is quickly becoming ours!
Even "All Your Base"... now belong to us! >:3
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d87pXXNO3Ds
So our rule will be supreme! As soon as we deal with those New Lunar Republic rebels.
I mentioned to people last week that the cause of the East Coast earthquake was actually due to all the bronies seeing the confirmation of the new season starting on Sep. 17th and having a simultaneous fangasm.
;3
Whatever suits you.
NINE DAYS LEFT UNTIL THE NEW SEASON!!! AHHHHHHHH!!!!
I haven't been this excited since my hip replacement surgery! (obvious joke on fan-base age... though he is getting up there now)
I KNOW!!!!!! *flails* IT'S SO EXCITING, i hope they don't mess it up, though if they even have the slightest clue about their fanbase they know they HAVE to, or risk being crusified by the fans
Bwah? If the know their fanbase... they HAVE to mess up the new season? ._____.
TROLLESTIA must be behind this!
Well anyway, ponies have immense power. I mean, aliens could be invading and we'd only care that they must cause the release date for the next episode to get pushed back!
*brony herd* Hey! Alien assholes! Yer messing up the new season of MLP:FiM!!! >:O
*aliens* More pony is coming? ORLY?
*bronies* YSRSLY!
*aliens* ZOMGWTFLOL!!! *take a seat right next to the bronies and start writing excellent fanfics like "Cupcakes" and "Spiderses"*
And so you see, the world was saved thanks to Twlight Sparkle and the rest of the pony crew!
Here's a clip from Season 2's first episode (a 2-parter); I hope this villain isn't the focus of the entire second season, but since he's done by a Big Name Voice, I'm afraid he will be
What about calves or chicks? The other stable animals also deserve attention.
*Charline de Lyon feh* There are only two places cows and chickens belong: on the grill or between the halves of a bun! >:9
Shouldn't there be equality at the farm?
"All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others." George Orwell, Animal Farm
Shouldn't there be equality at the farm?
How much equality do you believe should exist between the Sheep and the Sheep Dog?

or Sam the sheep dog and Ralph the wolf?
What's so special about small horse breeds? They may look cute, but they're not quite as useful as the big ones. That said, pets and farm animals make for lovely company.

The cutie marks on their flanks?
Cow and Chicken had their chance.
So, I watched the first episode(s) on Youtube. I kept myself open to the idea of liking it, regardless of how much annoyance I'm exposed to from MLP fans (or people trying to push it ironically). After a few hours, I finished both parts of the pilot (kept getting bored/distracted and switching to Minecraft), and it wasn't horrible. The voice acting was decent, animation looked good (could definitely see the Foster's influence on the buildings), I even smiled once or twice. That being said, I didn't find anything actually funny. Nothing stood out as anything more than a pun or "let's make something awkward happen to this character".
I'm sure a lot of MLP fans would tell me that the show gets better over time, that I need to give it more of a chance. I really don't want to invest multiple hours into a show I didn't like from the start, and from what I've heard, the characters just become more solidifed versions of the traits they represent. If I eat something and it tastes bad to me, I'm not going to keep eating it until I can tolerate it more.
I can see why people would enjoy the show, but I don't.
Fair enough. Nothing's right for everyone. Far's i'm concerned, it's enough to say "OK, not for me, but i don't think less of other people for liking this."
I will agree with you that if i were going by the pilot i wouldn't have been all that impressed; the plot's pretty predictable, and i'm not generally into the mustache-twirly kinda villains. Later episodes do seem to allow more room for fun, but that's probably because the creators know better than to take themselves too seriously.
" If I eat something and it tastes bad to me, I'm not going to keep eating it until I can tolerate it more." But people do that with cigarettes and booze all the time! At least MLP won't give you cancer or liver failure! ... I think...
*voice in his head* Alondro. This one is an infidel. You know what must be done...
*Alondro's grin becomes a delusional Pinkamania smile* Of course, Goddess Celestia... in thy name it shall be done.... hee hee hee hee.. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Say no to a brony dictatorship or theocracy. No ideology is untouchable.
Darn you, Charline. You've tempted me to watch this version and view the fan sites. I won't let myself be bronified.
At least watch the first episode on Youtube. I don't think you can properly be against something unless you've done your research.
Or better yet, skip the pilot (it's a bit of an outlier, since most of their episodes don't have villains) and try Sonic Rainboom or Feeling Pinkie Keen.
No extremes =/= being against something. I was joking. I'm actually curious.
If she is capable of giving this property steroids, I hope Lauryn Faust continues writing/directing.
Nope
Maybe somebody better at reading between the lines than I am can interpret:
Various circumstances with the production made it increasingly impossible for me to keep up the level of personal creative involvement and control that I had at the start of the series.
See also Questions 28 & 29 here.
She lives in LA with her hubby Craig Mc'Kraken' ;D, but the production is in Canada. She's also trying to pitch a new series "Galaxy Girls" at the same time. Keeping up with the full-time creation of MLP through email and messaging just wasn't working anymore.
She's just doing work on the stories now.
Jayson Theissen looks to be as promising as anyone could be. The big interview with him really confirmed to me that they're putting everything they have into the series. They love it, love the world they're creating, love (and tolerate) the fanbase. Even the Hasbro execs are getting into it more than just for evil corporate greed's sake. Of course because of the target demographic they have to tone down many of their ideas for the series, because little girls cry at the drop of a hat (wusses). Still, they're doing their best with what they're allowed to do (Canada has very restrictive content rules for shows aimed at small children, apparently.) I'd love to see how Pony would be done in Japan... *thinks about that carefully... ecchi.. hentai... * On second thought... D:
The old media is on its way out. These are its last years.
i'm a 26 year old male, been a brony since 1989, because i'm old school like that

MLP should appear soon on Know Your Meme, if it hasn't already.
Relax. Furries won't give you cooties.
