Now to my knowledge it seems that some hotel's have an age limit of 18 to stay alone without being with a parent/guardian and others only allow 21 and over... now I'll assume there are some near the convention center that allow 18 so I can pose my question:

Even though I turn 18 in May, is it possible to reserve a room for myself before that time? I expect most rooms are booked long before then (which actually can be another question, are most rooms usually booked by May?)

The reason I turn here for the answer is because my parents don't 100% know and it seems logical that many other people have encountered the same situation that I am in...

Thanks.

As I recall (though Kage may correct me), Anthrocon's partner hotels require you to be 18 to book a room; the Pennsylvania standard is 21 but we have special allowances thanks to our contracts and the efforts of VisitPittsburgh. You will need to book through our room block to secure a room. I.. am not sure if you need be 18 at the time of reservation; I do not *believe* so.

In 2011, all rooms did book by mid-May; the Westin and the Courtyard were booked within the first week. (The Doubletree and Mmni last a bit longer; and we are attemptign to get a fifth partner hotel.)

Perhaps you should bring the matter up to your parents; I understand you may have a bit of nervousness with this, but they'll be able to help you with your travel plans if you ask them, assuredly.

It's something of a gray area.  In theory, when you book a hotel room you are entering into a contract with the hotel.  If you are under 18, then you are not legally able to enter into such a contract.

Probably best to have the parents help with the reservation.
