Anything I Should Know?
I'm Heading To Anthrocon 2012 With My Friend And I Would like to know is there anything i should know about cause this is my first con I Would like to make a good impression and make some friends
I'm sorry If I Screwed Up Anything I'm New To All Of This
You didn't screw anything up! Sorry if I gave you that impression, I didn't mean to.
Its Alright I Thought I Did But I Corrected Any Errors I Mightve made And hey I Can See Your A Fellow Philly Native
You can start by volunteering. That's a great way to get to know people.
You are aware that Anthrocon is headquartered just outside of Philadelphia, right?
hey anything you need me to do consider it done cause i'm all about doing my part for the fandom and i read on some sites that back In The Old days From 2001 To 2005 You Guys Held the Con Here In Philly
Great ideea i will And pls see: (i learned everything from you even if i've never seen you in perso, but i hope i will)
Come and have a good time. Be nice, be friendly. It's not hard and the people will be open and friendly back.
Anything in particular you're wondering about? Or are you still in that "i know so little i'm not even sure how to frame a useful question" stage?
We're always happy to help, of course. Still, i'd hate to tell you a bunch of stuff you already know, or start going on about one aspect like fursuit ettiquette when you really were more insterested in something completely different like local places to find food.
Dont Worry I'm One Of The Nicest People you could ever meet and i just wondering if theres anything i need so i can come prepared
A-ah, so you were looking to figure out what to pack? This we can do.
Obviously anything that you'd normally take on vacation you'll need here (if that doesn't include deoderant, soap, and changes of clothes, i feel for your family). Some additional things you may want to take:
--Money. Seriously. More than usual. Enough to cover food and housing and then some, both so you can have a little fun at the con and so you've got some cushion for emergencies. The total money for the trip needs to cover
Food,
Registration,
Emergencies,
Stuff (that you might want to buy),
Hotel, and
Travel.
--Your ID, and a notorized form from your parents saying you've got permission to come if you're under 18. A copy of your registration never hurts as well, just in case.
--A pair of very sturdy walking shoes. Maybe 2. You're gonna spend a lot of time on your feet, and you want your feet to be comfortable.
--A hoodie or light jacket, if you're like me and you get cold easily.
--Cell phone numbers of any friends you're hoping to catch up with. Among 4,000+ people, it's easy to miss each other. Of course, this doesn't work so well if you don't have a cell yourself.
--Any tails or fursuits or whatever you might like to have along, and maybe some clothes you like to dance in. If you're bringing a fursuit, i recommend a small emergency repair kit.
--A watch if you don't have a cell phone, and maybe even if you do; you'll want to know what time it is quite often. A small alarm clock is good, too, if you're sharing the room with others.
--Either your hotel reservation information or the name and cell phone number of whomever you're staying with, just in case anything goes wrong.
--A small bag, if you don't intend to wear something with pockets; going back to your room takes time no matter where you stay, so you probably won't want to do it very often. If you can carry your wallet, the program and dining guides, and a couple other things with you but not feel weighed down, that's ideal.
--A friendly upbeat attitude (of course)
Does that help?
Yeah It Does and i'm already getting prepared I Have Steel Toe boots And A Pair of air speed Sneakers so i'm good with walking, I Have A Bag With A Wolf on it so i'm good with that, I Have all the essentials so i'm good
but The ID Thing is gonna kill me I Dont have one
A State ID in Pennsylvania costs $13.50, is available to those 10 years and older, and is rather easily obtainable. see http://www.dmv.state.pa.us/driverLicensePhotoIDCenter/obtainingPhotoID.shtml for more details. It's pretty easy to do; and we do require Id from all attendees.

So I Got To Have Driver's License Too? If So I'm Screwed Cause I Have A Disability Which Prevents me Obtaining A Driver;s License Hell I Can't Even Work Because Of It. And I'm Not Coming Alone I'm Traveling with somebody
No, you do not need a Driver's License; a State ID is fine. Those are simialr to a Driver's license for identification purposes, just minus the driving part.
Oh Thank God I Should be Able to get An ID No Problem Since I Am 23 Years Old and Will Be 24 The Time AC 12 Rolls Around so I'll get one. I Promise you guys as i'm sitting here right now I Absolutely Will Not Miss this Convention I Have been wanting so long to go to one and an opportunity has been given to me and i will not let it pass me by.

"Anything you should know about" is a surprisingly broad topic and you're probably not going to get much in the way of productive answers from it since the con is so big and there are so many things to do and learn. As far as making friends at the convention, there's no incredibly special ettiquette that's different from the rest of society so common sense will take you a long way. The only real important rule you might not pick up on is don't take pictures of fursuiters if they have their heads off - that's it!
Most of the important questions are answered in the FAQ, and if you have anything more specific to ask I'm sure there are plenty of people who'd be more than willing to answer them.
As a little aside, your posts will benefit from titles that describe the question or conversation inside, so that people who have answers for you are drawn to your thread. "Questions about my first anthrocon" or something similar would probably be more appropriate here. :]
