ToonSeum expansion!
To our Furry Friends. We invite you to be a real superhero by helping the ToonSeum grow!
The ToonSeum is Pittsburgh's Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art. The mission of the ToonSeum is to celebrate the art of cartooning. Our goal is to promote a deeper appreciation of the cartoonists and their work through hands-on workshops, community outreach, cartoon-oriented educational programming, and exhibitions of original cartoon art.
Just two years ago the ToonSeum moved into downtown Pittsburgh's Cultural District. In that short time we have seen visitors from around the world! We have presented world class exhibitions of comic and cartoons and presented nationally acclaimed cartoonists and guest speakers.
We now have an opportunity to grow! The ToonSeum will be using it super strength to knock a hole in a wall to expand to more than double our current side. We will be adding more exhibit space, a comics reading area, on site storage, and even an outdoor comics courtyard.
This will allow the ToonSeum to display more of it's permanent collection as well as presenting a wider variety of exhibitions and programs.
Funds raised via kickstarter will be used to pay for renovations and a art hanging system for the expanded gallery.
The ToonSeum will open the new space in October 2011. We invite you to be a real superhero and support the comic and cartoon arts.
Help us grow by visiting realsuperhero.org and pledging your support.
And thanks for being a real superhero!
