So... I live in southwestern indiana, not that many fabric stores in the area I live. I found some black cat ear and I thought I'd make a tail to go with it, my fursona is a mountin lion so her tail  is tan with a black tip and her ears are black.

I've been to hobby lobby, no fur there. I've been to micheals, no fur there either, and joan's fur ripped when I lightly tugged on it. anyone in my area or otherwise know any good places I might be able to go? my tail will be just above the ground a few inches or so. I just need good fake fur.

Any help is wonderful!

The tails of Big Cats appear to be "smooth coat" fur, except for the floofy Himalayan Snow Leopard, and the fur tuft at the end of an African Lion's tail.  Could you perhaps use a fabric like Brushed Velour, in a Tan or Khaki or Champagne color?  It would have just enough of a rough surface to look like close, dense short fur, and the sheen of Velour would add to the illusion.  A simulated "suede leather" fabric would also have the proper texture appearance to work.

*slaps paw on forehead*   Or the fabric used for Plush Animals, of course!

DISCLAIMER:  I have not actually tried this; it just seems a logical thing to try.  I can't vouch for how a tail made from such fabric would actually look.

I forgot to add it in my post, but I meant to say are there any good stores in my area. I have a basic grasp of the fur I'm looking for. or are there any possible websites to search for fabric shops? I've google fabric stores in my town with no help. and I can't order online since I don't own any means of paying online. it really limits me. but thanks for suggesting that I'll look into that Smiling
