Hi and Hi Again!
Hello everyone its Kiona Wolf here..So..Who has been to other cons besides anthrocon? How did it go? Any first time people been to cons like me? How was it?
I have a question there esteemed con chairman. I looked over the eurofurence website earlier this year because I was pondering going in 2012 or 2013 depending on finances. But I didnt see any FAQ I had or "so this is your first trip to eurofurnece" threads.
Any advice to someone whos never been to europe (other then one trip to the uk last year for 10 days to visit friends ) or a country where English isnt the primary language ? Can you enjoy yourself and get around/get to the con speaking only english? Is there any things one should know about how different eurofurence is compared to going to Anthrocon or Fc,etc?
Eurofurence is conducted in English, since it serves a multinational audience.
Traveling in Germany is really not difficult and they have an exceptional rail system. Many people speak English, although it would not hurt (and is only polite) to learn at least some rudimentary German.
The highlight of Eurofurence is the evening entertainments, and in particular their pawpet show, which is Broadway-quality. The dealer's room is very small and they have to let people in at a controlled rate. Also, unlike US cons, the convention rate includes your hotel accommodations. Remember that in Europe you pay by the bed, not by the hotel room, so there is no discount for stuffing a bunch of extra people into a room.
thank you for the information. I didnt not know some of those things.I will have to keep those in mind when/if I go to Eurofurence.
If you go to Eurofurence please tel me to i want to come to and i don't have anyone to go with. It would be nice to meet you,and to know someone that speaks a language you understand(i watched a few vids on YT. and i never heard any english, so food for taught) i would very much aprciated if you told me to.And i'm used to traveling in europe. So keep me in mind please; thanks.
In addition to this one, i've been to fur fright a couple times, as well as midwest furfest and furry connection north. I have yet to go to a fur con i regretted.
I attended Mephit Furmeet (in Tennessee) back in 2005, drove from Maryland with three other fur acquaintances. The car broke down five hours outside of Memphis, and we were stuck at a gas station for a few hours, trying to a) figure out what city we were in, b) figure out how to get ahold of a rental car, and c) figure out what to do with the driver's broken-down car. Eventually we took care of all of those problems and made it to the hotel. I had been to Anthrocon in 2004/2005, so it wasn't overwhelming, just different for me in so many ways. I didn't know anyone other than the guys I drove up with, there was no video gaming room (just PC, and I'm not much of a PC gamer). I either wandered around the hotel, checked out local places to eat, put on my skates and rolled around outside, or sat in the lobby.
I can't say that I met any new friends or had any spectacular time there (other than watching Meet the Feebles in the movie room), but it was an interesting experience. Definitely proved I can handle long car rides, as the four of us were crammed into the front of a U-Haul van for the 18-or-so hour drive back to Maryland.
Well, I've been to ClarinetFest, Origins, PMEA and OMEA All-State conferences....
Oh, you mean furry cons? MidWest FurFest twice, and it was very low-key and friendly. Being a fursuiter, it was nice that you could just go outside if you needed to cool off! :-)
i've attended a few cons in my time. i've had fun at many of them. The only exceptions to that were usually things beyond the control of the con staff, such as bad weather, delayed flights, etc.
(If click the links of the years in that link, you'll see pictures and con reports from those cons as well.)
I'm attending FurFright in Connecticut this year, even though plans were made at the last minute. I could only attend for a single day, however.
I was at Anime Boston back in April. I met quite a few people that were furries there.

Eurofurence. It is the grteatest thing in Germany that does not involve beer. And it also involves beer.
