For halloween and Cons this year and next year, I'm making a satyr partial which will require digitigrade and fur over a pair if existing pants. What do you experienced digitgraders prefer to use for your undersuits?

This may be really stupid question. Sticking out tongue

Or maybe I could just use tights to make the pattern on and sew the digitgrading into the fur pants?

Ive havent been fursuiting yet but most forums I have read say you should wear either tights like underarmor or what ever you can get your hands on that will keep you cool.

I figured I'd need something to keep me cool, it /what/ that I'm not sure of. Sweat pants are out of the question, obviously. Jeans are probably no better.

i'd think that jeans are probably worse to wear than sweats.

i've gone snowboarding with jeans under my snow pants, and the jeans got very damp from sweat alone(snow pants prevent any water from getting inside).  they quickly became EXTREMELY uncomfortable.

others have mentioned under armor, and that'd probably be best, or something like it.

My highly uneducated guess as a non-fursuiter:

If you're putting clothing under fursuit parts, avoid anything made out of cotton.  Cotton absorbs moisture great, but it holds the moisture in, so it's slow to dry and is likely to chafe a lot.  Cotton also holds heat in really well.  Similarly, i'd avoid linen and wear wool only if it's extremely light and specifically marked for hot summer.  I'd say silk might work, but it's expensive and a pain in the butt to clean.

Some of the synthetics are probably your best bet, so long as they're light and breathable; if the tag says anything about wicking moisture, that's what you want, so it pulls the sweat away from you.  Bike shorts, exercise shorts...that's a good direction to head in, and a tight fit will keep the material from bunching under your satyr fur.  Try sports equipment or camping stores.

And remember that the inside of a fursuit gets very warm, so you want to plan for that.  If you already feel a tiny bit warm out of the fursuit, you're gonna roast alive when you get into it.

Under armor works best as it wicks away  sweat. you can find them in sporting stores . and a cooling vest helps too
