Ok so I decided which of my characters to get a fursuit for but, I have some questions.

1. About how much does it cost to make a partial (hands, tail, head)
2. About how long does it take? I have about 5 hours a weekday
3. Where is a good place to get supplies, I'm going to need a place near/in northern Maine
4. About how much skill does it take to make one (1-10)
5. What are some good how-to videos? This is my first time making one.

Thanks for any feedback! =^.^=

a few friends and i have been thinking a building a partial.  so far we priced what we needed but there is a few things that missing or not enough materals.  this is one way we are building it and some other ways of building it can be cheaper.  our total so far is about $92, but i think the total might be around $110. when its done.  if anyone has some recomends for it i am up for the help and thank you.  i hope this helps you on building one to.

In answer to some of your questions:

The last partial one that I made had a head, arms with hands, legs with feet, and a tail, with a blouse and wrap skirt.  Cost of materials was approximately $130.

It took about two weeks of my after work time (~3 hours/night).

Northern Maine?  If you're making it from lumber, you are in luck!  Sounds like you will need an internet source.  Stores like Joann's has "hobby fur" which is usually rather sparse and tends to show the base fabric, I recommend staying away from it. Better fur costs more but is worth it!  There are many on-line sources for fur and other supplies.  I get "jaw sets", noses and eyes from Van Dykes Taxidermy http://www.vandykestaxidermy.com/ and details of some of the ones I have used: http://www.jovinamask.com/furry/Projects/taxi01.htm"

How much skill?  That depends on how fancy you want to get.  Remember, even the best maker had not done one before when they did their first Laughing out loud  The real key is patience, do not rush things, look it over carefully and THINK before doing.

How to videos?  They are out there, look through past postings in this forum under fursuit making, including previous years.  I do not have any videos on my site, but I do have pictures:  http://www.jovinamask.com/furry/Projects/Projects.htm

Good luck!

Jovina
