Age Issues?
I feel that I have to ask about this because I'm pretty confused and unsure of what to do.. I was at AC 2011 and I needed a minor consent form. However, I can pre-registrate this year and I already have the money available to do so. The thing is, though, that right now, I am 17. I will turn 18 on June 7th, only a few days before the convention. So I'm wondering if whether or not I need a minor consent for to pre-reg and if I will be getting a minor badge or an adult badge? Also, how do you verify that you pre-regged when you get to the con? And where/how do you get your badge? I'm fairly new to the convention scene, still.
As mentioned, if you turn 18 before Anthrocon, you count as an adult and don't need to deal with any minor stuff.
If you were at AC 2011, you'll go to the same overall area- Concourse B. I take it you registered On-Site last year in that long, long line; this year you'd go further down that hallway to the much shorter lines of the Pre-reg area. You'll find the correct line based on attendance level and last name, and then, as mentioned, show your ID.

Thanks so much! Really a great help
So if I have to enter my age into the site when I pre-reg, it won't say I need a minor consent form or anything right?
You'll enter your date of birth in our system, not your age. Our Magic Computers will know you'll be over 18 at the point of the convention.
magic computers"? Did you get them as a special last year from Hogswarts?
Heh. Well, the onsite registration computers are... "magical" Okay, not so much... in fact, pre-reg is probably safest... *hint hint*
I think it is quite evident that computers use magic.
I am considering launching a religious crusade against the sorcerors responsible for creating these demonic magic boxes!
I am immune because my computer is clock-work and runs on steampunk. :3
Well, they're linux, so to most people, it must look like... "magic"
EDIT: (The Onsite Registration computers, anyway...
)
Hmph.
I do just fine with my laptop, Thankyouverymuch, and so do most of my Quaker colleagues. Just because there was that one irritating old lady who needed me to teach her about the magic of the "Save As" command...
A few years ago a friend of mine in his late 20s had a "Minor" badge printed out for him. THough since he's kept his inner child, perhaps that demonstrates that the computers truly ARE magical?
I think you should put in 18 as per age you are attending the Con.
You never input an actual age; merely your birthdate.
I think we all knew what I meant when I said to put my age in. No site has you put in the actual number.. I'm not stupid, I just didn't know how things worked on here. >.>
well the only way you learn is by asking. no harm there!
No one thought you were stupid. And some websites do ask for the actual number. Yahoo, for instance. And ICQ, at least in the early days. The AC website doesn't, but it could have, if it had been programmed differently. This way works better, but it's not the only possible way.

The rule is simple: if you turn 18 before the first day of the con, you do not need the parental permission slip. You will be getting an adult badge. If you pre-register through this site before the con (highly recommended since it saves you money), you should be able to check on-line that you are registered. Also, if you register on-line, you will get a verification e-mail (and a real letter, if you request it) telling you that you're registered and both will include your registration number. When you arrive at the con, you just go to Registration (the faster pre-reg line!) and show them a photo ID. They give you your badge and your 'goodie bag' which contains your program book and the con schedule, among other things,
