All I can say is that this Coyote was incredibly smart and cute... and people wanted him to leave! Dååååw... ^___^ Did anyone hear about this? A Coyote found his way into a Quiznos in Chicago... apparently it was not the first time that they had to deal with Coyotes in Chicago. |

I understand that he also had a leg wound. It's likely that he was scared and was trying to find a place to hide, and when he went into this room and found it full of humans, he panicked and tried to jump over the counter to get away. Unable to, he jumped into the cooler and curled up there, figuring that at least he was protected on three sides.
Poor thing. I hope he managed to catch his roadrunner.

I'm wondering if it would be possible for AnthroCon to make a $100 donation to the Flint Creek Wildlife Rehab folks?
That is, if AnthroCon actually has a separate account or budget for such things, beyond our annual charity that we have the auction for.
If not - but the idea is otherwise acceptable - then I will pledge an additional $100 to reimburse AnthroCon for the donation, separate and in addition to what I historically pay for my membership.

Thats very generous of you, and very sweet of you to recomend.
I second this recomendation if it is at all possible. If not there may be something we all can do. If we can delegate someone to hold the money, any artist, con-goer or staff member could give a donation and that individual can send it to Flint creek as a Donation from the Anthrocon Attendee's.
If these are not possible, FLint creek could be a wonderfull recomendation for Next years Charity.

It's certainly not my call to make, but I will point out Anthrocon's criteria for choosing a charity this year:
Criteria for candidacy:
- Must be animal-related
- Must be 501(c)3
- Must be within approximately 60 miles of the Pittsburgh, PA metropolitan area
- Must be incorporated in Pennsylvania (can't be in Ohio or West Virginia)
(emphasis mine)
Given that Flint Creek is located in Barrington, Illinois, these items would tend to be a problem. I would, however, point out that Barrington is less than fifteen miles from Schaumburg, Illinois, home of Midwest FurFest, which, to the best of my knowledge, has not yet selected their charity for this year. I have forwarded Flint Creek as a suggestion to MFF's charity liaison.

Thankyou Duncan for clarifying that for us. I had yet to actually go over that portion of the website, and it makes sense to keep things local when dealing with the chairty.
Thankyou for sending the suggestion to MWFF, I will put in my recomendation as well to their charity Liaison.

Poor little guy.
I sincerely hope that he checks out okay healthwise and is released back to his home.

Adrian (as he was nicknamed) has indeed already been released back to the wild. Here's an excellent blog post (with pictures!) from the wildlife rehabilitation group that handled the case.
