Theme's for Anthrocon
Ok i know that the board or the chairman himself (uncle kage) do the themes for AC, well i was thinking about different themes that we furries come up with that we can all agree on. So when the chairman or whoever is in charge of the themes for AC runs out of ideas ask us. I'll give some and see what others think.
madi gras, midnight masquerade, fiesta in the spring, red carpet, underwater extravaganza, western, medieval times, life under the moonlight, sunset at the beach.
pick one of these or come up with more or something you want to see at AC.
Ok well thats good i guess. But will they ever ask us for ideas for themes for the Con.
The staff take suggestions for themes at almost any time, though I can't remember the email at the moment. That said, the process by which themes are selected is shrouded in mystery, (beyond not repeating a theme within a 10 year timeframe or doing a theme that another major furcon has used in the last 5 years.)
We will always take suggestionst to themes; would be the ideal email.
http://www.anthrocon.org/node/5806/future-dates-and-themes has the list of upcoming themes. The board generally slects themes three years in advance, we try not to repeat or echo themes other conventions have done recently.
...given that there are no less than four furry conventions with post-apocalyptic themes for 2011 or 2012, we're not too worried abotu it, but we like to keep a general principle ccontinuing.
there are so many fur cons now.I think it will get more challenging to not repeat what some other con does
Wouldn't a panel dedicated to classic literature and theatre suit the current theme extremely well?
be careful! usually when someone suggests a panel they get nominated to host it by the con staff
Congratulations, you've just volunteered to run the panel! Now go put it on "suggest a panel" to get the ball rolling!
In our current climate, I don't really feel like visiting the United States, much less to attend a convention. I was speculating.
I'm sure Vulpes Rex could do it.
...I'm sure Vulpes Rex could do it.
I had the strangest sensation about 10 days ago...
...I was sitting there, minding my own business (specifically, just how I was going to get my paws on 20,000 gallons of Soy Sauce - The Master Plan requires it), when I suddenly felt this cold shiver race down my spine, right to my tail tip...
...Almost as if I was suddenly being - well, being "volunteered" for something...
I believe the standard term is "voluntold."
I'm not likely to go.
I wondered about this too and I think it would be really nice if we could vote on themes. Personally I like the theme ideas the original poster suggested better than any of the actual themes in recent years, I have an easier time thinking up costume ideas for the themes Bluelion mentioned than the actual AC themes during cons I've attended, but maybe that's just me.
The ideas that are put out there are always considered. But keep in mind that the con themes are decided YEARS in advance. So we have to make decisions based on what we feel will work a couple of years away. We also keep track of what other conventions are doing for themes, and try to be original with ours. (Hence why we are not doing an "End of the World" theme this year...too may other events are already doing that.) Some of the themes suggested have either already been done, or will be done soon...and we try not to repeat themes within a certain time frame.
The other thing to consider is not only costumes, but art and writing, potential guests for the convention, and overall appeal. Case in point, the "OMG Aliens" and "Institute of Magic" themes were extremely popular with a wide base of attendees. We will always try to select a theme that not only gives the overall convention a direction, but is something lots of attendees will like and play with.
I was terribly hoping for a mayan 'end of the world' theme this year XD
There are at least four furry conventions doing apocalyptic themes across 2011 and 2012. Just not us.
its a theme that needs to rest at least 5 years. its been done to death lately
I`m all for the theme of ending the end of the world themes. also zombies have been done to death (and undeath)
i would say a theme (It Came from Under the Bed)
That's one I've not heard before. Would you propose it as a "nightmares" type theme?
Not really. More of (what do you have under your bed)
(what do you have under your bed)
What is underneath my bed?
Bolsheviks!
Or at least - that's what the John Birch Society and the local Gun Club used to tell me...
Then you have to sleep on the refrigerator.
...And the Bolsheviks then hide in the vegetable crisper bins!
Just not outside, in the state of Pennsylvania.
Let's see. I actually have 2 beds. 1 bed has under it. Oil. Widow washer fluid. Tire chains. Tools. And a bunch if other stuff I can't think of. My other bed had under it. Movies on dvd and vcr tape. Plus cds dust. Old socks. And probably the monster or two?
ok sorry for not being on since i'm still in school but the good thing i have a few more months to go since i'm a senior yay for me. and personal problems but i'm keeping them away from here. i'll go to that link that someone gave me for Themes for AC sometime later but thanks anyway. But everyone at AC rocks and uncle Kage is the best.
Later

they're already planned out till at least 2014, they come up with them far in advance so as not to have the same theme as the other cons at the same time
Due to economic recession and budget cuts the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off, we're sorry for the inconvenience.
