Programming Department - volunteers!
Hi all,
If you are considering volunteering at Anthrocon, all of the departments can always use good helpers. However, I'm going to put a bug in your ear (don't worry, it won't eat your brain), about some help that the programming department can always use.
* Fursuit lounges - the number of fursuiters grows EVERY year. Last year we had over 850 suiters in the parade. To accommodate the suiters, we have two lounges. But we always need folks to help staff the lounges. This would be standing at the door monitoring admittance, checking on the supplies in the lounges (water levels, keeping fans in order, making sure it isn't too crowded, checking on folks who may need assistance, etc.) This has become almost a CRITICAL need for the convention, and there is a relatively small number of people that staff both lounges.
* Event runners - These are folks that work with the track leads to help check on panels, make sure rooms are in good order, verify that supplies are in needed rooms, etc. With 200+ panels, we can ALWAYS use people to help with the events.
* Large event support - Some events may need additional help. Things like the fursuit games, some main stage events, performances, etc...can need a bit of help when there are MANY people involved.
* Info Desk - This is one of the spots where people come to find out information about the convention events. You can help them locate rooms, hand out fursuit tags, and provide information on event day/time.
*Guest of Honor support - We have a dedicated guest of honor liason. But at times, this person needs a break, or needs to help two or more guests at one time. Anthrocon prides itself on providing top notch support to our Guests of Honor, and we may need folks to help move their materials, or assist in escorting them to a panel or to the dealer's room.
Anthrocon can ALWAYS use your help. Remember, we're a convention of the fans, by the fans, for the fans. We are deeply grateful for all the support we are given, and you can be proud that YOU are a part of making us a successful event. If you have a little time, please consider volunteering for an hour or two.
