lonely fox looking for other furries
I'm a 22 year old fox that lives in south Carolina near cayce ... just poking my nose around o3o
(wags tail and waits) I would love to go to a Anth con but i don't know how to really start.. due to low money :<
Or if any wants to be friends i have skype :3 its spawn109s
You definitely want to have sufficient funds to go to any convention. You'll need travel funds, hotel costs (include tips for hotel staff please), food and drink, and any money you plan on spending at the convention itself.
If you don't have the funds to go this year, you can make a plan to save to go next year! Anthrocon (IMHO) just keeps getting better every year! So if you can't make it one year, just make a plan for the next.
Ok, let's see, *Googles*
Cayce, South Carolina is in the Columbia, South Carolina metro area.
If you can get to Columbia, SC, you can get Amtrak or Greyhound.
Greyhound would be a long trip (almost 24 hours) but the cheapest, and the fare would be as low as $178 for the round trip.
(The list of SC stations is here in case you're closer to another:
www.greyhound.com/en/locations/locations.aspx?state=sc )
You could also take Amtrak from Columbia to DC, and DC to Pittsburgh. The pricing seems like flying might be cheaper, however.
The cheapest way to go, though, is to skip AC and go somewhere closer, like Furry Weekend Atlanta.

Just the transit alone is $100 by Greyhound, 4-6 hours depending on the bus, and requires no transfers.
if you take the bus, go with the express, not the local, the local bus usually stops a lot more freqently
Hi! I'm still kind of new to the fandom and looking to any furries to talk to
I'm a dragon wolf hybrid named Lunas and I'm currently commisioning a fursuit.
What's up?
just remember to put aside some money to eat even if it means bringing a bag of ramen. dont try to "tough it out" for the weekend
Even if you do bring a bag of ramen, i'd plan to bring some money and maybe some additional food if you don't live on that stuff all the time. There will be a lot to do and see, and you'll spend an enormous amount of time on your feet. A convention is not the time to test your ability to tolerate extreme rations.

Hello Kyo, it's great to see you're wanting to go to AC this year. I hope you do make it. Add me to any contact lists you want, I'm always up for chatting. That goes for any other fur on here looking for new furry friends. I'm a furry writer and have 2 fursonas. Want to know more, just ask!

Well, if you're able to a) find means of travel and b) afford the hotel room you'll be all set. Unfortunately that's everyone's hurdle for any Anthrocon, but as a repeat offender (hah) I can say it will be well worth the trip and wait once you're able to go.
Anthrocon was my very first furry convention; I'd gone to plenty of anime conventions in the past, but to go to an actual convention for the fandom was ... well, intense to be honest. But in a good way. It's like a good bath. A bit of a shock at first, but once you really get into it and relax it just feels really good and enjoyable. And soapy.
Yeah.
Anywho, one good thing you can do is see who's in your immediate area, and see if there are any events relatively close. I'd say a furmeet within a half hour or so's distance is a good start. And if there aren't any, well, see who's around, and to your liking. Try to put together a get-together at a nearby restaurant or something.
It's not exactly Anthrocon, but it's a start.
