Buca 2012
Now that the madness about rooms and regiustrations is over for me, I guess it's time to put up the Buca get-together. For those not in the know, a small group of us go to the Nearby Buca De Beppo restaurant for dinner on Thurs. night. We usually have about 30 furs go for a 1 mile walk across the bridge to the restaurant. We share and split food and drinks and usually get free desert. I think this year it should run about $20 a head. We all meet in front of the Westin about 5:30 on Thursday nite. its usually a pleasant walk to and from the place, although last year was a close thing with a rainstorm that had just passed. We finish and head back to the hotels and con about 7:30 or so, still in time for the dances and such. So start leaving me names and we'll get this party started.
I had a great time last year at Buca. Not sure if I can make it this year, though. If I do, you can put me on the list.
I will definitely be there so put me on the list please
Okay, after 2 years of committing only to be called away at the last moment and then missing the dinner, I am determined to make it this year! Count me in. Third time's the charm!
definitely count me in! i loved it last year
its great enjoying a big meal like that with lots of people and the food was delicious ^_^
This year since I will be arriving on Wednesday I should be able to make it this time. Can you send out a reminder maybe a week or 2 in advance so that I don't forget?
Well like I said it all depends on whether or not there is anything I want to go to or not.
I guess you will be running around like a crazy fur uncle kage but if you see me in suit and have the time then I would be happy to claw at your back as I am sure you will need it or maybe not it's up to you.
To be honest that offer is open to anyone as long as you are clothed.
I am definitely absolutely in on this! I wouldn't miss it for the world.
The Buca dinners are always among the more memorable events at every Anthrocon.
This sounds like alot of fun... count this draggy in barring the unforeseen.
i will be there fully. i dropped in last year thanks to the knowlage of another fur i know who took me here. i never regreted it for a second as it was a good meal and company. also found out it was also in shuttle range of the westin so thats how i will be attending. i admit the shuttle is cheating but i am a penguin after all so hicking that far is usaly only reserved for mating
i will be bringing another new fur to ac named pikazap as well for your records. have any issues contact me.
Stew, you're from Brampton? Do you know Dan Dawson there? He works as a firefighter for the Brampton Fire Department, and has played lacrosse for the NLL's Boston Blazers.
I don't think he's part of the fandom. But I do know who this guy is. I was only curious if you've heard of him because he's from Brampton, and he's kind of a celebrity.
Looks like I was too slow to start the thread this year, but I intend on nomming with y'all. Expect to see Dingo there too.
Hmm, this sounds intriguing
If I came, it'd probably be with between 1 and 3 others, but I won't know until closer to the time when we've had a chance to check the schedule and make plans.
How about a provisional yes ?
Assuming the numbers aren't going to get unmanageable !
We'll take any kind of yes, provisional or not. So far, it looks like we'll beat our all time high of 28 friends for dinner. one of the fun parts is all of us walking to the Buca. The looks we get!
i take it you all wear your suits for dinner. it sounds like fun. count me in. this will be my first time to ac and wan t to make the best of it.
We are generally packed in pretty tight and being a family style restaurant large bowls of hot sloppy foods are being passed around. Just how much marinara sauce do you want to try cleaning out of your fur after walking a mile back to your hotel?
Yeah, Fursuits are not a good thing for this. The walk is about a mile and it usually is real hot. But a lot of us wear just ears or tails. I personally have a hat with about 40 assorted furry pins on it, and I'll usually wear a furry t-shirt (a dark one). If you come, remind me to tell you the story about an early Buca dinner we drove to. We did have one guy in full fursuit.
ok cool. looking forward to it thanks.
I'm going to try and get to this this year.
Nexusfolf directed me here. This is my first con and I'd love to make some new friends. I'll definitely be there.
If my roommate and i get there on time (pending good driving, good traffic and no border hassle) than we are a possible yes! =)
>>The walk is about a mile and it usually is real hot
Yes, though I think you could take the light rail --in fursuit? that'd be interesting--and maybe you wouldn't have that problem.

But you may be better off walking with us, but beware of the heat!
i invited 2 more canadan furs that are local to me. we will see if they attend or not and ill see you at the meeting spot at the con.
This was a ton of fun last year! I'll be back this year, and bringing someone with me
For the record, that someone is me.
Just a quick bump up to the top of the forum. So far we have about 30 furs interested. That's great. More updates to come.
Thursday at 5:30 for meet. It sounds very do-able and I've neglected to go to Buca as of yet in the years wev'e been in Pittsburgh so far. I'm 90 percent in, unless 10 percent I lose track of time.
i nearly forgot about this, I'll be in, perhaps I can drag a few roomies with me.
What is their seating capacity?
Can you give more details about this place from personal experence for those who have never been?
... ie service, wait time, staff courtsey, types of food etc... and how long do you usually stay for the meal and after to socialize?
If possible do they have a website or link you could post about the place.
I'm guessing this is about a 15-20min walk to and from Buca.
You can find the menu and such at http://www.bucadibeppo.com/
The biggest single table in the place is probably the round table in the Pope Room. You could get maybe 20 people around that at most. So we take over a set of tables in another room. I went with a group of 50+ on Sunday of last year and there where still empty tables around us.
The staff is usually great and wait time is not an issue as we will have a reservation.

Count me in dude! I loved it last year
