State of Logistics
First off a big thank you to the city of Pittsburgh for once again having us there and for the extra hotel space. Good luck with the NHL draft!
Well once again we are closing in on another Anthrocon. We of the logistical department are already gearing up for another great con and its sure to not disappoint. The first thing that I would like to share is our more organized storage locker at Etna. Everything is labled and packed in such a way that it should make unloading the truck at the con a lot easier. This does bring up some new hurdles however at the close of the con as we would like everything to be placed back exactly as we unloaded it. This will take a team effort not only from the whole logistics dept but also from the other staff as well. We know your up to it though.
Secondly, the logistics staff will be sporting some new attire to help in identifing us should any one need to find us and can tell us apart on site. Security seemed to like the shirts we had last year and I was told it did alliviate some confusion so thats a plus. For those wondering what we have this year...you will find out.
For those of you who want to volunteer in the department we need most of your help during setup and takedown. Not only are these our most active times all your volunteer time is doubled at these peek times as well! Either see Con Ops or one of the logistical staff and we will be happy to install shock coll...er set you up with volunteer forms.
Thats it for me here. Lets make Anthrocon 2012 the best ever...we may not be around much more anyway if that darn Mayan calender has its way...
That was in 2010 not this past year. We got all the STUFF last year no problem.
it was? oh! o-o well darn my memory.
I might volunteer, but you'd have to install a grounding cable on me. I swear I'm getting shocked big time every few minutes at work. I'm so static-y.
really?... i didn't know blue dragons suffered static cling so badly, I'll have to make sure i wear lots of rubber when i interact with my blue brothers and sisters.
glad i don't have to worry ^^; as a chaos dragon i'd guess i usually have a field of randomness. but there's so much of that at AC it cancels itself out XD
It's a joke relating back probably as far as 2nd edition D&D.. Blue Dragons attack with lightning breath, not fire.
good thing i brought my Staff of Draconic Mastery +5 to protect me formt eh lightning >.>
never played dnd, just basing my response off the general idea of dragons power's relating to their element(s)
That's a blue dragon thing. You should be used to it by now.
Hrmph. That's only when people put us in the tumble dryer without a dryer sheet.
See? *lifts collar to show tag* I'm clearly labeled "Lay flat to dry."
I don't ever remember seeing that tag before. I thought it was always hang them up on the line and beat them.
Nope. Definitely lay flat to dry. If you hang us on the line we tend to get stretched out of shape.
And if you beat us, we retaliate with glitter and industrial strength sprayglue.
Is the opposite for "Lay flat to dry" "Lay bumpily to wet"? >;)
*laughs* My brain goes in so many directions with that. None of them are particularly good.
*wraggles eyebrows*
You're gonna get yourself in trouble if you keep taunting us dragons... *chuckles and rolls eyes*
OHHHHHHH. me loves logistics. Im a logistical genius
I seem to remember a certain cockroach coming back to Pittsburgh a week or so after the con this year.....to get some....STUFF....though that may not have been logistics' fault~ ^.=.^
Yes that was not our STUFF that related to something else but Logistics did not have a part in that stuff..so it was not STUFF!!
STUFF is STUFF.
Sometimes, STUFF is...just STUFF, but
This STUFF is like no other STUFF.
...Getting rather Stuffy in here, isn't it?
aha! so it IS that locker... I'm going to guess your assertion was made AFTER we put everything back XD
If not.... uh, yeah, about that whole "organized" thing... =P
Two things to further explain. 1. The whole organizational event took place in October so yes it was after the rummaging several volunteers did in order to locate a certian french speaking item. 2. The decision to go into the storage locker was independently made several years ago but we lacked the time to actually do the project until last October. We had always meant to organize and catalog the majority of the STUFF inside.
As a side note the Logistical team was not present for the search for the above mentioned item. We understand that the need to find the item was necessary and regret that we were unable to be there in person. Our schedule did not allow it. If we had been there we certianly would have made sure it was not left in the dire state that we found it in. This is one reason we are the Logistics crew and like to be present for anything involving the STUFF.

yay for more ogranized storage ^^ hopefully no repeats will occur of the STUFF incident of 2011 ^^;
we all have magic in one way or another, you simply have to learn how to unlock your personal flavor of it
