Virginia Furs?
It seems there aren't too many VA furs..
Anyone here happen to be from VA? I need to know I'm not the only one in the area XD
Ah, thanks!
Ahh. I see what you did, there.
Perhaps I should have mentioned that if you make your location too specific - like for example, "Northern *someplace awesome*" - that the search will only return a list of others who gave the same location in their profile. I was thinking more along the lines of just "Virginia", which yields a whole mess'a Virginians.
Sorry I didn't mention it earlier!
I clicked on someone's "VA" location tag and received more than a dozen pages. I thought, "wow, where are all these people if this many lives in VA." Clicking on a random person or two on each page revealed that most are not in the VA area but locations such as Pennsylvania, Nova Scotia, Nevada. I did recognize some as Virginians.
I'm not sure how that function works but doesn't seem to narrow the list any. Just pointing it out since I didn't know about that little feature and wanted to browse it out of curiousity.

i think it mistakes town names and such that have VA in them as the location. i just tried it too and do recognize a few people on the list that i know do live in virginia. but i see what you mean. one person was in somewhere in ohio, but the word before that started with Va. little bit senstive of a system ^^;

I will admit that I haven't checked on every permutation of possible way to enter a location, and it is reasonable to think that if the thing were actually looking through States of the USA or Provinces of Canada, that postal abbreviations would be acceptable. Alas, I see my error; I now believe that it just does a text-matching search; Pennsylvania, Nova Scotia, and Nevada seem to confirm this theory, as was pointed out in the reply above mine.
Clicking on the "Fredericksburg" under your name, however, did yield 7 other AnthroCon Forum members.
You're right on that. After I posted, I realized that it was doing a string match. All of them match "VA" pretty well.

indeed ^^ there are a lot of virginian furs actually, but their a bit spread out except for some larger groups here and there.
My boyfriend and I just moved to VA to live with a good friend of ours (who is also a furry). :3 It would be awesome to meet some people who live near us!

oh cool
your living in the county i used to live in temporarily when i was in high school ^^ we couldn't find a good place near home, so mom and i got a small house there for the school weeks ^^
Hah awesome there are more furs in VA than I thought XD
We should try to get together a group of VA furries at AC! It would be great to make some new friends who don't live too far away. :3
~Justin
would certainly be awesome indeed ^^ i know a handful of furs around VA personally, but most of them are still a good drive away so it would be very cool to find out where some more are ^^
Heh, we exist. :-) There are quite a few of us around, actually.
Yeah, but I most likley won't be able to go to the con this year xc oh, well. Probably will next year, though
Just remember folks if tyrrlin looks at you funny, it's not becuase you did anything. She is determining whether or not you should be lunch.
I should probably run for my life now.
Just want to point out that i'm not very tasty and that there is a rather edible mongoose who works with you that would make a better alternative meal.
*giggles* Nah, I'm good. I have a lovely wolf who takes me out for ribs whenever we want! :-)
Harumph!
Hah XD even if I can't make it to the con it would be fun to see if there were any small furry gatherings just in VA :3
I believe the 757 furs (down in the Tidewater area) have regular meetings.

Awesome :3 though the people who run the website might want to update, It doesn't seem to have anything for 2012
I am from 757 furries and i am going to AC 12. ^^ By the way, that is the new schedule for 2012. ^.^
Hello All!
I was gong to create a thread on this topic but you beat me to it.
My furry name is Swivel (real name Mike) and I host the Southwest Virginia Furs group. We have been meeting for over five years, and currently have furmeets every three weeks in Lynchburg VA.
In addittion to my group, I know of two other VA based furry groups, both of which are larger than mine. They are the 757 Furries as mentioned above and the NoVaFurs.

The Northern Virginia Fur Group

There is also the Virginia Furs page on FA.

I hope that helps! See you at AC!

Ooh, didn't know 757 had a Yahoo page XD and thanks for the linksto the different fur clubs! :3
Just posted a video wth clips from a number of our furmeets over the past few years.

Greetings, Plazma!
No - I am not from Virginia, but there is a way to find others from that locale.
Notice that under spot where your user icon would be, there is a hypertext link to the destination which you listed as your location? That's clickable, and will take you to a list of other forum members who are from that same location - or at least, a list of those who listed their location by state.
If you go back and edit your own Forum Personal Profile so that it includes the name of the state, you would then be able to click on it and get that list of Virginia Furs.
Good Luck!
