Our hotels are nearly full (updated)
The Courtyard and Westin are completely full!
The Omni ihas added some rooms with single queen beds -- all the double-bed rooms are sold.
The Doubletree has just two rooms left, and they are both rooms with single king-beds.
The Hampton is sold out and we're seeing about stretching the block.
If you've been procrastinating, we don't recommend waiting any longer! If all hotels are booked full, we will see what we can negotiate with some of the other hotels that are nearby, but a little bit out of easy walking distance.
Wow the rooms are selling out early this year. Hopefully you can negotiate more room space.
Wow, still about three months and its hard to get a room. Glad I got my room when I did, a bit outa the way(Marriot City Center) but not horrible by any means, and did manage to save a bit on it too, I remembered last year where i just wasn't able to get one.. and that year I blamed the Red Sox being in town, this year... who knows
wow. i hear the Westin filled up in just hours after opening ? almost seems like Anthrocon is getting "bottle necked" and capped for the attendance numbers because of rooming space.
Yes, and Kage has told the city that. I believe I heard that over the next fiew years, if we don't get more hotel space in walking distance, the city will be missing out on a total of about $5 million because we just won't be able to get more folks to go.
Yup, the hotels are definitely bottlenecking the attendance. That's why it didn't grow much last year. This year they have added the Hampton, and they have said they are working on other hotels for next year.
Short of moving to someplace like Las Vegas, there isn't much else that can be done. There just aren't enough places with huge conference centers and large numbers of hotel rooms. Plus, Pittsburgh loves us, and other places have their own cons. Maybe AC won't be the biggest forever, but the goal is to put on a great con, not just to be huge.
If it wasnt for the Border/passport requirement The GTA area north of Toronto near the International Airport has a hotel capacity well into 5 digits for attendance numbers around either the Congress Center or International Trade Center, which has more than 17 hotels in the area with free shuttle buses from the airport. ( in the area where Anime North is held. ) The Congress Center alone has over 6000 car free parking, 11 huge Convention Halls, tons of resturaunts, and a hotel capacity of over 10,000 rooms, free Airport shuttles, and is roughly 5 hour drive from Anthrocons' current location.

I hope we never get to be like SanDiego comic con where after the first day youre getting hotel rooms miles away ;p I`m glad I got my om nom nom nom Omni room booked!
