Not being able to speak Russian, I find myself wanting to break out the video editing software and do some vocal improvisations of the characters... Sticking out tongue

I just showed that clip to a Russian co-worker. Totally made his day.

He explained to me that the show was the pretty much the Russian answer to Tom and Jerry. He also pointed out that the music played in the episodes was topical -- it was related to the events of the episode. Interesting stuff.

Frde Patten had a small DVD collection of these things! This was sort of the soviet "Tom & Jerry", "Coyote & Roadrunner", "Lucy & Desi" all rolled into one, and quite amusing, even if you don't speak russian.

There wasn't a heck of a lot of dialog - so little, in fact, that when the original voice actor portraying the wolf ("Vulk", I think) died, - and the event made the major ntwork news in the Russian Federation - the animation studio just kept 'recycling' his distinctive, gravelly-voiced lines into new cartoons, only adding a new vocal talent for odd exclamations not previously encountered or envisioned.

The Hare ("Zayet", I think) was drawn so its gender was never really firmly established, sort of like Herriman's Krazy Kat, and was typically drawn quite androgynous and so cute as to remind most furry fans of Chester Ringtail, it borders almost on the creepy. I think the hare is cute because it is a smaller animal, and hares or rabbits are just supposed to be cute - the character is actually supposed to be a grown-up adult hare, not a child.

And the relationship between the hare and wolf is not exclusively defined as predator/prey or enemies of any real consequence; in a couple of episodes, the hare remembers the wolf's birthday, with a bouquet of flowers, and vice versa, and one time the wolf appears at the hare's flat, decked out as if about to take the hare out on a date - but yeah, it's mostly slapstick pursuit of hare by wolf, who is a lower-class prol, _not_ a good example of proper soviet values, a bit of a bully, and who usually gets his comeuppance by the end.

yeah! the rabbit is an adult rabbit, because is diferent to childrens (circus chapter), really is a tipe of small adult bunny.
respect to class, zayet and vulk are of lower-class, (the fish fight chapter and zayet birthday chapter), and in fact of relatonship, is extrange is like predator-prey, in first chapter, but later is like a couple, because in many chapters zajet and vulk, have a ligth rommantic-behavior. when they dance in "the demolition work", in escene of champ in "the zajet birthday" or in "the boat chapter"

Oh, I never thought of that. Hmm...

But maybe it's really the Danish language that is at fault here. According to this video, the Danish language has collapsed into meaningless gutteral sounds such that not even the Danes can understand it. Sticking out tongue

It's not you. Ir's english--A language that uses germanic grammar to organize romance (read: latin-based) and germanic words, with a smattering of other words from every other language that tickled someone's fancy. at least half the letters have 2 pronunciations in and of themselves, plus more if you count the dipthongs and other letter combinations. I've always heard it said that english is one of the hardest languages to learn, simply because it breaks all of its own rules.

The classic example: by english language rules, i can maintain that g-h-o-t-i spells "fish":

gh from laugh
o from women
ti from station

Even the native speakers have trouble with it some of the time. *grin*

yeah!!! but the problen are in english pronunciation, not inside of the extructure of language, for example english does not have almost declines like italian or spanish in spanish case we have declines in almost all the words.
tengo, tendria, tuve, tiene, tener, tuviera, tuviese, tenga tendre... All these forms for the verb "have". or for example in english only have one form to say "you" in spanish have four diferents forms to say the same word in diferent situations, this is the reason of because to spanish native speakers is difficult to learn. not for the words, more because for translate to english we must to search many equivalents that does not exist in english and exist in spanish, is the same for italian, french and all Mediterranean languages... uff!!! =3 imagine if the official language was be the chinese!!! =3 =3
