Uh...hey everyone. Yeah, AC is gonna be my first furry con, and damn I'm excited. Um...anyhoo, yeah. Name's Fennec, and I'm honestly hoping to continue going to a con every year. I technically got excited about it because 1/2 of my furry friends are going to be there too, so at least I'll know some furres who will be there. I've got everything set for it...except a roomshare. I HAD that, until my friend Dusk cancelled on me a month ago...Meh. Oh well. If I can't find one, I can always sleep in a tent somewhere, lol. |

Sleeping in a tent somewhere is strongly ill-advisable.
Hopefully you'll find a different room, but that'll become more difficult as the convention draws near.
I've already got a two-year streak going for me, and I pray to extend that to three this year.

You ain't just whistling dixie.
If you find a local designated campgrounds, you could rent a site and pitch a tent there. Those places are, as a general rule, a fair ways out, often outside the city limits. That means you'll probably have a fair commute coming and going every day, which is a pretty big pain in the butt, especially when you have to deal with the added hassle of taking care of your campsite and your stuff every day.
The hotel won't let you pitch a tent inside their space, for obvious reasons. I'm not sure if it's legal to just pitch a tent outside in the city; if it is, it's really dangerous. Don't even think about doing that.
Try the roomshare board here and see if anyone can help; it's late in the day, but i daresay someone else is dealing with a cancellation too. Failing that, if you can't afford either of the AC hotels or the marriott on your own, finding a motel 6 may be slightly more expensive than the campsite, but i think the stress relief will definitely be worth it. *smiles*

Sorry. *sheepishlook* I'm afraid i may have spent too much time around folks who ask just such silly questions in earnest, or worse, skip the asking and assume equally silly answers. I just can't assume that no one would be so senseless anymore.
I think i've lost all sense of perspective. *grin*

Fennec,
Welcome to Anthrocon! I know the entire staff wants to wish you a wonderful weekend. It's going to be jam packed with LOTS of fun things to do and see!
Since you've not been to Anthrocon before, there are many folks that will tell you what they have liked in the past. I'll make a couple of suggestions for things that you may want to do.
When you register, please take a moment to look at the programming guide. It will give you a rundown of all the things that we'll have going on for the full weekend. Since it's your first time to Anthrocon, you may want to start with the "So this is your first Furry Con" panel. It's typically right after opening cermonies.
Be sure to stop by the Art Show. Some of the very best artists in the fandom will have pieces up for auction and for sale. You may find that one piece by an artist you've always wanted!
Remember where the Zoo is. It's very close to registration. It's a general hang out zone when you and some friends may want to talk, relax, or just take a break.
Don't be afraid to get involved! If you really want to get to know some people at the convention, try volunteering one day. You'll possibly be working with some of the convention's movers and shakers, get to see a little of the back scene of how we do things, meet new folks, and help out the convention in the process. Anthrocon has one of the best groups of volunteers around...they are what really make our events run as smoothly as they can.
Remember, Anthrocon is BIG. There will be lots to do all weekend. You'll be able to commission artists, listen to panels and discussion groups, see fursuiters and puppeteers, enter gaming competitions, and make a ton of new friends in the process.
I only have one request of you...please...HAVE FUN!
