Hey It'll be my first time fursuiting (depsite the past 3 years I've been trying to get my suit together) and I really want to take part in the photo ops just to have something to say "Hey look! That's me!". Do the photo ops happen only during the masquerade or will it happen outside of the masquerade time line? I'm not too too worried though as I'll pretty much be in suit for the majority of the con, but there will be those times where I need to perspire healthfully and I just want to make sure I'm in costume when the photo ops take place. That's all I got and thanks in advance for any constuctive criticism/answers Dobeweiler |

Well if you're in any type of suit, you're gaurenteed to be in about three hundred pictures over the course of the con. People like myself love taking pictures of everything and anything, and fursuiters take high priority.
As for photo ops, there was a group with a designated room in the convention center set up specifically to take fursuiter pictures last year. Basically all you had to do was walk in and get in line. Their setup was rather nice, looked pretty professional. They had brought their own backround, lighting impliments, and high quality digital cameras. All photos they take are later put up on their own web site for all to see.
While I can't gaurentee they'll be there again this year I would say it's a good possibility. They allow single photos and group shots. I didn't see much of them, but it seemed that every new entry had to do a quick three poses, one of each side and front. After that, you were free to pose to your heart's content.
If you really dug through the forum topics you might be able to dig up a link to their site actually.
I don't know where they will be (assuming they're there again this year), or what times that room will be open and operating, but last year they were open for a great deal of time over the entire weekend. You shouldn't have any problems getting your picture taken professionally, and by a couple hundred fans with cameras.

That's Monoceros Media, and they'll be back this year. They're actually going to be setting up in the foyer outside of the Spirit of Pittsburgh Ballroom, so they'll be real easy to find.

permalinkIf you wear a fursuit for any significant stretch, SOMEONE will have pics of you, if not SEVERAL someones. What I'd do, lacking any friends with cameras but having a fursuit, is make a note of what makes your fursuit distinct (I.e. "I was the dragon coloured puce dressed in a tuxedo"), and, a few weeks after the con, posting a thread in the forums with that description, asking who had pics of you. You should get responses proportional to the amount of time you spent in-suit. Even people like me who don't make big photo galleries would probably email you a single pic if they had it, and some of those with bigger galleries will be posting links in OTHER threads once the galleries are up.
(So I'd check their threads as well.)
Remember to check in frequently and save links and email addresses, since the AC'07 boards don't stay up forever- they give way one way or another to the AC'08 boards!

*nodnodnods* I've learned to keep my distance from fursuiters and keep my camera radar up for just this reason. *wrygrin*
I don't know how you could possibly fursuit at AC and not get photographed. Even if you're in regular street clothes, it takes some effort.

permalinkThanks for the input furries.
Well everyone seems to be pointing to the same thing, that being many pictures will be took.
Well furs, it's going to be hard to photograph my fursuit, for it will be invisible, and I'll be hiding in it the whole time, yes I will!
So go ahead, I dare you to try and photograph my invisible fursuit
Seriously though, yeah I don't know why, but I totally forgot that there's quite the chance I'll run into a lot of camera carrying furs. As for the Monoceros media set up, that certainly sounds pretty suiter friendly since it's going to be easy to find and probably in a very "con" venient location.
