Hey furs I just got my tax return back and I may finally be able to pop down to sign up for Capoeira lessons. I'm still not 100% sure yet if it's something I want to do as I've also recently signed up for a gym membership and I'm looking to put on as much mass as I can over the next couple of years. For those unfamiliar on how body building works, the only way to get that "Wookie body" is to bulk up by using heavy weights and slow repititions, and then spend X months doing toning exercises which consist of lighter weignts but with faster reps so you get that definition you're looking for. So I'm wondering, if I do capoeira, do you think it would have a negative impact on bulking up? Aside from that, if I do sign up and there are furs who do capoeira, I was wondering if you guys would like to hook up and mess around and maybe even teach a new dog some old tricks Anypoop, that's pretty much it from me again. Pretty much if you want to Bulk up, any martial art will lean out the muscles rather then help you bulk. Capoeira, though having never taken it, but having seen it fairly often, looks like an art that could potentially lean you out more then gain you heavy muscle mass.
Heavy muscle mass in such a martial art would limit your flexibility as well and prevent you from doing many of the flips and jumps that capoeira is made up of. The same goes for pretty much any other martial art with the exception of Judo possibly.
Depending on how MUCH muscle you want to have on you can also help determine whether martial arts is the road for you.
If you Have any questions about Martial arts dont hesitate to ask, they happen to be a passion of mine 6.^

permalinkHeh nah I'm not looking to be super uber dooper full of beefcakeyness, I'm just looking to gain some a bit more bulk and gain some symmetry. My main concerns really is just putting on a bit of mass to my rear delts, my chest and quads, but the more I look at capoeira, it looks like I'm just going to get an over all toning workout, so I'll probably just use the time between now and next February to bulk up and then get into capoeira after that, get cut and then do all that jumpy flippy stuff in fursuit.
Hmm.. well now that I think about it, I suppose I could try doing capoeira nice and slowly, since that's the way it's done with partners in class
Hehe, okay I think I'll do both now.
(I can hear my wallet cringing right now, but yay tax returns!)

Well if your looking to be a lean mean muscle machine, Capoeira may be for you. It's an EXCELLENT work out and will tone not only legs but stomach, back, chest and rump as well.
Toss in a bit of an upper body work out with some weights and that may help you get the physique you seek. Capoeira will give you a body image that is slim and well toned out, it will also help with your breathing and stamina which are wonderfull things to work up!
You dont need to spend a fortune to do what you want to do. Just make sure that you find the right capoeira studio. Take a few trial classes (these are normally free) to see which school is for you. Try out several other martial arts as well as you might find a different style thats more to your needs as well as very very enjoyable.
Small at home weights also work wonders providing you put in at the very least 30 minutes 3 times a week.
Good luck sweets ^.^

well. capoeira is aerobic sport, usually this tipes of exercises are good to make more definition in the muscles, however anaerobic sports are good for make muscle-mass, now I have a bodybuilding routine and is suficiently good to make muscles , but if you want a really big body, you need change all you life stile, first: having a good diet, second: making hard work in a gym (2 hour diary).
is dificult, but possible =3...

permalinkI have looked at that martial art before, but I prefer Ninjitsu. Done properly it requires almost no strength to do serious damage. And you don't have to break a sweat to break your atackers bones.

permalinkI personally enjoy and have done Systema. It has no techniques and relies solely on body mechanics. Once you've figured it out, you can really f*ck up someone's day
