I want to know what everyone thinks of this... if we could be provided with one television that could be dedicated to my old Sega Genesis console, I can bring and demonstrate old Sonic the Hedgehog videogames that I have. Since my username is "The Sonic God," I might as well prove who I am. Or, if anyone just wants to see me hack and play the videogame, too, that's cool. Opinions? |

You know... I don't have a working Sega CD! *sigh* Hard to bear the name "The Sonic God," without having a working Sega CD console with Sonic CD. But, there were hints of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic CD being the same game years ago, and theory that it was broken apart into two games, as well as many stages being deleted (Hidden Palace Zone is still visible with a Game Genie).
Games I will have are Sonic 1, 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles (two cartridges fused together), Sonic & Knuckles, and I'll have "mini-panels," not sanctioned by Anthrocon showing furs secrets that you may or may not have seen on YouTube. ^^
Interesting facts:
1. Sonic 3 music was composed by Michael Jackson! IceCap, Carnival Night, and Launch Base music was changed in the Sonic Mega Collection. The Sonic 3 Credit music was removed in Sonic 3 & Knuckles, but is still playable in the Sound Test.
2. Every Sonic the Hedgehog game on the Genesis has a stage in which can be defeated in under one minute, without codes.
3. I hold the fastest time for defeating Carnival Night Act 1 with codes, 0:48 seconds.
4. There are clipping glitches everywhere in Sonic 2, some help you defeat the stage very quickly. (Search YouTube for Speedruns.)
5. Very disturbing imagery can be discovered on Sonic CD through proper codes.

I can bring my Sonic Gems disc for GCN if we want it. It has Sonic CD on it among other things. Sure it isn't on a Genesis, but hey it can still be played. I'll probably end up having it on hand anyway.
Also btw the music was apparently changed for only the PC re-releases of the games and not Mega Collection. As far as anyone knows - everything is just done through emulation. Actually I can verify that, since if you look at the directory structure of the Mega Collection disc there's a directory called "roms" with what you'd expect in there hehe. I had almost forgotten I had the stuff to do that. After I put so much effort into figuring out how to do that sort of stuff, I wonder why it didn't cross my mind.

Gotta love the classics! Sonic the Hedgehog is pretty awesome. Haven't actually played them on a Genesis for years. I got the compilation discs for the Gamecube, and play them on that occasionally, or through other means

permalinkAs a general rule we only go for multiplayer gaming. You're more than welcome to loan your Genesis for the weekend of the convention, especially if you have any classic multiplayer Genesis games.

Is anyone up for bringing Streets of Rage 3 or Gunstar Heroes? I have the latter for my Wii, but playing it on the Genesis with others would be fun.

Me and a friend of mine sat down to play gunstar heroes the first time, and we beat it in 30 minutes.
Normally we might feel cheated after that, however we had so much fun, we just restarted it and played through again, another 30 minutes
Good choice of games!
