Anthrocon 2012 Charity Event Followup
Hi, and welcome to the 2012 edition of the Anthrocon Charity Events Followup!
Anthrocon raised a new record total of $20,656 for Hello Bully, our supported charity this year. Thanks very much to Nicole Meloy and all the volunteers from Hello Bully who came out to participate!
More special thanks are in order to the following groups and individuals:
* To all the donors who contributed artwork and merchandise to the auction and raffle, and to all those who both bid at the auction and bought raffle tickets.
* To the Dorsai Irregulars, Anthrocon's security contingent, who contributed more of their sought-after fursuit items, the Elevator Golden Ticket for 2013, and raised additional funds at the elevators.
* To Dr. Samuel Conway and 2, the Ranting Gryphon, for their charity performance for which all ticket sales were donated to charity. Also, again to Dr. Conway for his annual auctioneering skills.
* To all the fursuiters and their handlers who helped us inaugurate our own version of the fursuit "bucket brigade," and to the other furry conventions who gave us the idea to build off of - we've got new ideas on how to streamline it, improve it, and make it more fun to participate in for 2013!
* To the Westin, Omni, and DoubleTree who each generously offered up a four-night stay during Anthrocon 2013.
* To all the attendees who bought merchandise and made cash donations to Hello Bully's donations jar at their table, which is always a large percentage of the total funds raised.
I would like to give thanks to my staff who helped conduct both the charity auction and raffle. None of this could've occurred without the assistance of Mike "Mrianti" Pierce, Shaun "Stahi" Daugherty, and Trevor "Mr. Mutt" Boyd.
Some raffle items not claimed on Sunday were donated to Hello Bully for their use.

Thanks again for a great year and see you all in 2013!
Um, question, on the Kage/2 thing, shouldn't that number be divisible by ten? Sorry, had to.
Good seeing those numbers, anyway.
That's the number the charity gave me after counting their cash. Either they missed a buck (most likely), gave someone $1-off, or some extra change slipped into it.
Just out of curiosity, do you happen to know if the Doubletree stay and Squishables fox were claimed at all? I put in a ticket, but forgot about it when the time came to claim it.
Yes, they were both claimed.
Time to change header Anthrocon 2012 --> 2013...
The website banner? That will change after we've had a chance to recuperate.
In regards to the Charity Auction:
Holy fuck, how did it get that HIGH? - AC Fursuiter badge #800/#69, and all Dorsai Slapbands...the Elevator Golden Ticket (unless there's a rule for next year that people have to yield to you going DOWN as well, in which case I could see it being worth that much.)
Holy fuck, how did it stay that LOW? - the 4 nights at the Omni, the custom fursuit commission (unless this is only a partial), and the party for 75 from the There Ultralounge (especially if it includes booze.)
Those are the ones that stood out for me.
Fursuit paraphernalia has a history of large bids, although I think the #1 slapband went for a song. Check out the historical summaries for examples: http://www.anthrocon.org/charity/summaries
The Ultralounge party did not include booze because we cannot auction alcohol and felt that auctioning a service that provided alcohol was too close. Nevertheless, I also thought it was a travesty that it didn't garner more bids. If I wasn't so busy working the con on Thursdays and Sundays, I would've jumped at it myself.
The fursuit commission was for a full suit.
The sale at the Omni was a tad low, but still in line with previous years' high bids: $500 (2011), $450 (2010).
Just to note, There Ultralounge originally included 2 bottles of anything (including top shelf) in their donation/party. However, it had to be taken out due to the rules of (the state, the charity, Anthrocon, etc). It probably would have been bid up somewhat more had they been allowed to auction it with booze included.
I think the Omni was low because people are lazy and want to be in the Westin or are fursuiters, want to be close to their friends. I never have enough money after buying art and commissions to consider buyng next years lodging during the con even if it is for charity.I suppose also for some, they might not even know if they can attended next year for sure. Whoever did buy it got a bargain.
