Hi gals 'n pals. I'm eventually going to get my fursuit built. When I do, it's going to be a doberman suit and of course the "fur" can't exactly be long or thick, is going to have to be sleek and shiney and what I was thinking of doing to accomplish that is to spray it down with a thin layer of silicon to accomplish that. Does anyone know if that may work? Berner |

is plastic silicon or mineral silicon???

if is plastic, yes, you can use for add shine, but maybe you could have problems in the texture of your fursuit, "glued fur".
now if is mineral silicon, this could be dangerous, because usually silicon be acumulated in the respiratory system, can make silicosis, and is a terrible form of die.
in my case, personally I use shining paste for hair.
is good for shining efect, but have a short action time.

You may not have to spray anything onto the suite to give it that Dobbie Shine. There are several fur fabrics out there that can accomodate your particular fursuite. Speak to the individual who you will have make the suite to see about getting it made with one of those fabrics.
It's not only safer health wise, but also easier to keep clean without having to consistantly re-apply shine to the suite.

permalinkHeh no worries, I'm making it myself. I've already found the fabric I'm looking for but the warehouse I deal with (I sew things as a side business, just not furry related stuffs) doesn't have it in stock, so they have to order it in from Toronto.
I really like the texture of it as it's the closest thing so far that I can find to matching that of something like a doberman's. It's a matte black polyester fabric that feels like a cross between velvet, silk and suede.
As for reapplying a finish to the suit, I'm not too worried as all I'm making for it for now are a couple of prosthetics. The rest of me will be clothed
