Did you lose something at Anthrocon? We may have found it!
Did you get home, only to find that your favorite stuffed elephant didn't make it into your luggage?
Our lost and found box is crammed full of treasured items. It's been two weeks now since the convention and there's still a lot of things that have not been claimed. I'm attaching a picture of some of those items. It's not comprehensive, so if you are missing something and do not see it in this collection, inquire anyway. Someone else may have found it and is waiting to hear from you.
TO CLAIM AN ITEM:
Send an email to ceo(at)anthrocon.org with LOST AND FOUND very prominently in the subject line. Include a description of the item, and the (real) name and address to which it should be sent. Please do not use a pseudonym; the Post Office may not recognize it at your address and may simply return the item to us. Do not worry about postage; Anthrocon considers the return of lost property to be another service that we offer to our members.
Note that badges will be sent back flat. We will not be able to include badge clips or holders with them.
You can click on the image below for a larger version.
We also have jewelry, eyeglasses, sunglasses, portable radios and telephones, books, artwork, art supplies, con store and dealer room purchases (still in their bags). Just let us know what we are missing and if we have it, we will let you know. Note that we may not be able to respond to all inquiries -- we get quite a lot of them. If you do not hear from us, rest assured that we have gotten your note. It means that we haven't found it yet, but traditionally we still have people sending things to us for months with a note saying, "I found this in the Zoo and was going to drop it off but forgot," so do not give up hope.
DO NOT FORGET TO CHECK WITH THE WESTIN, THE CONVENTION CENTER AND THE OTHER HOTELS! If something was turned in to them, we would not have gotten it, so make sure to ask around.
I lost my "Beware of the Wolf" badge... My buddy Logan and Joey bought it for me and it fell off the bottom of my badge..
My roommate, Anthrocoon had a "Certified Racoon" badge like the one in this picture. Not sure if it's his, though.
VT State trooper K9 badge is mine. Thank you for locating it.
OMG!~ I see my iDrink - iDrunk badge in there! Its a good thing I looked at this! Thank you guys so much! I'll send an email your way! <3
I think that Otter/Badger Badge in the top right witn "Pamp Keeka" on it belongs to my friend Lightish.
Looks just like his character and even has the gray jacket.
I'm gonna contact him in the morning and ask him to check it out to see if it is.
i lost my mind at anthrocon. anyone find it?
sorry, those are unredeemable :3
I lost a green pull-over jacket... >.<
If anyone found it, it had "Morrisville State College" written on it.
Once again, thank you guys for going through the effort to gather up all the lost and found items. I got my badge returned to me safe and sound. Thank you so much! <3
OMG! MY GIR BADGE! I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THAT! I just recently was talking to some of my other furry friends who went to AC with me this year and they told me it might have been picked up by you guys and put into the lost and found! AND HERE IT IS! I'll be emailing RIGHT AWAY.
umm im missing a large tom tom gps no cords are missing just the device its self...?
Please email me at ceo(at)anthrocon.org about that Tomtom.
If im correct, I dont think you guys dont search the hotels for missing stuff. Sadly I lost A pair of sunglasses
No, you are wrong. We do not do any searches for lost items. We can only collect what is turned in to us and try to find the rightful owner. Now, having said that, I have an entire box of sunglasses. Is there any way you can be more specific about the pair you lost? If so, please email (email, email) me with as good a description as you can muster. A picture is worth a thousand words.
A picture is worth a thousand words.
Whoa - strangest thing, but for some reason my ears just started to tingle.
" Whoa - strangest thing, but for some reason my ears just started to tingle."
It just me or is that contagous? Cause now MY ears tingle a bit....
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I am just curious, how do you guys prevent fraud for your lost and found? For example, what if someone claimed they lost something and pick up someone else's property?
First off: On valuble items, we ask for a description of the item. Somethign like a Cell Phone or camera, you wouldn;t be able to look through and say "That's my Camera!" You'd have to say "It's a Yerfico Picomatic 3000, and it's silver.", and we'd look and see if we had a silver Yerfico Picomatic. The same applies for most items, including most electronics, and sketchbooks: The lost and found is searched by staff, not attendees. We can check IDs, as well.
Apart from that, people aren't going to take random costume parts- for one thing, they're unlikely to fit. Nor are they going to claim Fursona badges of others; Tony Treeweasel isn't going to want the badge for Suzie Snowleopard, even if it is stylish art.
Also, people who are scummy enough to want to steal from others usually don't target the lost and found boxes of a furry convention. This is not a high-reward area.
We do, however, occasionally, get people who come by Lost and Found and say, "I lost my iPhone. Can I rummage around in the lost and found box and look for it?"
The reply is always, "Give us the number and we'll call it, and see if it rings." Invariably the person wanders away -- never really noticing that we have quietly written down the badge number.
If I ever lost my cel phone (not an iPhone), not only cpuld I give the number to call, I could even prove it was mine with a dead battery. You see, I have written my name and address on a piece of paper tape and stuck it on the inside of the back cover. I'd just ask them to remove the back of the phone, pull out my photo ID and ask "Do they match?"
