A) If you give your thread a title that matches what you want more closely, you'll get more accurate responses. You wanted "contacts in the USA", but you ALSO need someone who at least speaks some Spanish. Therefore, you might have gotten better results if you posted something like "Seeking Spanish-speaking
contacts in the USA." (This is closer to what you need and want.)

B) You also are looking for AC attendees who have cars, and time to spare to show someone around the city of Pittsburgh and the convention- not just THE CONVENTION.
At the very least, you probably want Spanish-speakers who are visiting AnthroCon. The best way to do that would be to write the thread's title IN SPANISH, and add some translations in the thread itself.

C) You probably should start getting serious about making friends at AnthroCon who speak Spanish once you have some plans that you MIGHT attend the next one. Right now, everyone is working on their plans for AC' 07, and all discussions are on AC'07. If you want to plan for AC '08, I recommend spending time on this after AC'07 has ended, and the AC'08 new messageboard is being used.

All of that is my advice. You can take my advice, or leave it, as you see fit. Since I'm not in charge, nothing will happen even if you ignore ALL my advice.
