Equine Angels

As you may have heard, Anthrocon's selected charity this year is Equine Angels Rescue, a local 501(c)3 equine rescue, rehabilitator, and shelter.  While cash donations made at the convention are great, the majority of funds are raised via donations of artwork and merchandise to our Charity Auction and Charity Raffle.  We're looking for popular items and unique craftwork that will make people say, "I want that!"

While we must distribute items between the Raffle and Auction based on available space, time, and perceived and past value, here are some examples of donations that went big in past years...

Great examples for the raffle: Crafts based on hot trends (Harry Potter handmade house scarves - $57); Large amounts of candy (5lb Hershey bar, 9.25lb Nestle Crunch bar - $70); Art bought at prior convention art shows ("Wrath" art by Terrie Smith - $83); Giant, brand new plush of popular characters (Large "Bolt" plush - $107); Merchandise based on popular fiction (Dr. Who's sonic screwdriver - $158)

Great examples for the auction: Fursuit costumes and commissions (Horstachio costume & candy - $150); Rare convention memorabilia (Full set of all AC t-shirts since 1997 - $200); Professional sculpture (Dragon statue - $225); Unique opportunities (A speaking part in audio version of Diane Duane's "The Last Meow" - $500); Dorsai fursuit tags (Tag #1000 - $1600)

If you have an item you believe would be appropriate and would like to donate, please contact charity-2013(at)anthrocon.org!

I just picked up some animated realted items that you may like for your charity auction.  I'll get them nicely framed and send off some photos and descriptions to your charity-2013(at)anthrocon.org address.

If they are sealed in their original packaging, unexpired, and with price tags removed, then I think a manageable amount could be accommodated.

Please contact with your submission.

Oh yes, I own a coffee shop, it would be it's own order and they'd be roasted just a few days before the convention. It's really special stuff you can check out my supplier here - http://www.ceremonycoffee.com/about. It's local, award winning and roasted in limited amounts. I just thought it might be cool because you don't usually see those big bags. I could do brew coffee instead they have a lot of really interesting artisan roasts. What ever you think would be more attractive. If it's not something you think people would be interested in I can order 12oz bags too.

I have some pokemon cards from the original sets. i think there are even some first edition holographics in my set. i dont play pokemon cards anymore. can i donate them to the auction?

I honestly have no idea what condition there in. they have been at my mother's house for almost a decade sitting in a trunk of mine. I also have a bunch of other stuff lying around my place. could you guys give us a list of things that you would accept? I have a lot of Star wars stuff... its not really animal related.

If these items are collectibles with a proven collector's value and are like-new and preserved in either original packaging or a display case, then we can review them for potential inclusion.  If these items fit this description, please contact charity-2013@anthrocon.org with this submission.

Examples of what we accept are in the original posting, and otherwise anything that would have value and be in demand by attendees.

I doubt the Pokémon cards are in brand new shape but some of my star wars stuff probably is. I'll try and drop by my mother's house at some point and check up on my stuff.

I have two items that I'll be bringing along for the Charity Auction.

The first is a set of four water-color sketch cards by writer/artist Katie Cook created at the Toronto ComiCon on March 9-10, 2013.

I had the set framed at Hobby Lobby and just picked them up today. Photos...

I also have a rare production animation cel used to create the 1992 cartoon My Little Pony Tales. Hand painted by the artists from Sunbow/ Graz Entertainment this cel is one of a kind! This scene features the My Little Pony Band The Rockin' Beats. The band members in the cel include Melody [pink singer with microphone cutie mark], Tuneful [green keyboardist] & Sweet Notes [hot pink guitarist]. Comes with a color copy background of a stage from the cartoon. This is a 3 cel setup taped at the bottom with scotch tape which can be removed. The cels approx size with 12" length by 10.5" width. The color copy background is approx 11" length by 8.5" width. Photos of both front and back of the three cels together....

...also included with the production cel are 4 original My Little Pony pencil sketches...

...I'll send all this with more detailed information to the email address above and then bring these items with me to Anthrocon.....

....sooo, you think anyone would be interested in these?

Some going in my group wanted to pay me for them right now and told me to give the cash as a donation to the charity. I told them if they want them, they will have to bid on them at the Auction itself on July 7th......you know, now that I saw how the framimg came out, I may have to bid on the water-color sketch cards myself!

....the framed water-color sketch cards framed set will be in a Airfloat Systems StrongBox art shipper (which the framed set is sitting in on the photos above) that will go to the winning bidder as well.

I just realized that the URL to the Equine Angels Rescue website actually leads to last year's charity! (Hello Bully).  Shocked

Well I wasn't posting because I didn't know how to get to the site, I was posting to help fix an error :D  The typed URL was correct so there's no confusion if you're looking for the actual URL (and no problem copying and pasting it), but I just wanted the author of the OP to know since people might be clicking on it and getting sent to the Hello Bully website and being confused.

The author must have fixed it after I commented on it, because before the link looked like this:

http://equineangelsrescue.com/

The link text was correct, but if you clicked on it, it lead to Hello Bully.

I'm not crazy!  It really was like that Laughing out loud

Edit: Oh wait I see what you did there.  <.<
