This year we'll welcome screenwriter Tom Minton of Animaniacs fame, renowned fantasy author Mercedes Lackey, and her husband, the artist and true Renaissance man Larry Dixon. And for those who could not get enough of his incredible acrobatics last year, Sardyuon will be joining us once again!

NO WAY!!!!! I get to meet Mercedes Lackey and Larry Dixon?!?!?!  Jawdropping!  Not to mention the guy who had a VERY big hand in half the shows I watched as a kid. (and still do as an adult.) I almost can't believe it, I am SO glad I am a Supersponsor. Anthrocon has just made my entire year.

Thank you, Anthrocon Staff, for making this happen!

I can only agree to the commenters above! I love raptors and the older WB and HannaBarbera cartoons.

And Sardyuon! I was so hoping he'd come again this year since I only saw him on YouTube.

Looking forward to July Smiling

Old Animaniacs fanboys never die, they just get locked up in the water tower.  Just last Saturday I scored a 1990s Warner Bros., stamped Animaniacs cel at an estate sale (my second cel!), and now I hear Tom Minton is going to be at Anthrocon.  All I can say is: FABOO!  (I can't say "Hello Nurse!" because, well, I don't swing that way.  Sticking out tongue )

OH MY DEAR FREAKING LORD YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW EXCITED

Mercedes Lackey and Larry Dixon have been my lifeline since Middle School, the only books with gryphons in them I ever found for YEARS

AND I GET TO MEET THEM

I don't even know how I am going to introduce myself without becoming a gibbering idiot

You are going to say "Hi! I'm Fred Jones, and I've enjoyed your books since I was young. Could you sign these for me, please?"

and then you will breathe, and listen to their response, and tell them yes to sign it to Fred Jones, and attempt to have pleasant conversation about the convention, about Pittsburgh, about your favorite book they wrote

and then all too briefly the time will be up, and you will say "Thank you", and they will say "You're welcome", and you will collect your stuff and move out of the way for the next people

and that will be it

unless

you happen to sit near them at dinner somehow, or at a panel they're at, or fursuit in front of them, or some other chance to interact without that Dealer table or stage pit in the way

and then you can have actual conversations with them about the birds they own, and about where you went to high school, and how neither of you like lima beans, and how you listened to that LP too but it was your Mom's

and then all too briefly that time might be up too

but even if you don't get to do the latter

you'll be fine

because they signed your book, and you said "Thank you" and they said "You're welcome"

and that is still going to be real cool.

--Chi

p.s. i know your name isn't Fred Jones, so use your name instead

I'll be really excited to meet these folks. They're immensely creative. They're the kind of people that makes this world great, bringing colour of imagination into the heart of what we know in our daily iives. Just impressive.

Absolutely Wonderful line up this year, Lackey in particular has a place in my heart because of her vocal support of the "City Of Heroes" game before it was suddenly closed down Really should get more active and read a few of her books before the con..

Goes without saying Animanics.Dance So much of my younger years were watching those style of animation, entertaining..and oddly sometimes educational... who'd have thought.. but anyway absolutely marvelous group this year

That acutally reminds me of a question on concerning Guests of honor, what is the standard way to handle autographs and the like at AC. I mean how is it handled beyond the waiting in line to meet and greet sort of stuff.  Some places(Sports and so on, think comic cons as well) its customary to pay for autographs, and the like, while some places signings and the like are just for publcity..

Yes I know i'm rather oblivous here, its just a question that has been rummaging around in my mind.

I do not believe that our guests are planning to charge for autographs.  We'll have a space set up for them to sign things, but I don't think they would mind signing something if you happened to catch them out and about.

to expound on the chairmans words..so far no one has charged for signing a reasonible number of items. What most of the guests do do is have things to sell to you like books or art and such. But Anthrocon has been fortunate enough not to have any movie star types who have nothing to offer to  fans but their autograph and then thus charge .Not that there is anything wrong with that since some people turn around and sell autographs of very famous people. So its only fair for the person suppyling it to make something out of it.

That is not exactly true.  A couple of years ago my mate bought a book from one of the Guests of Honor and then had to pay $10 extra for it to be autographed.  Not really a big deal but something to be aware of as it can happen.  Out of the past four years of attending AC that is the only time that has happened to us though.
