Was curious about somthing, does anyone know the westin hotel's policy on alcohol? Is a person aloud to walk around the main/2nd floor etc with a beer in their hand? Or can we only drink in hotelroom and the bar? The DoubleTree in Sanjose last January allowed people to walk around with open drinks as long as they didn't go outside, yeah, I know, different hotel, different state, different rules etc. But just curious if this one allows a similar thing! I recal a friend saying to him last year that the hotel (westin) said it was allright as long as you wearnt passing out all over the place, anyone know the rules? - Thanks |

It is not a problem. Just don't take it outside of the hotel.
And don't pass it around.

permalinkSo they even allow it in the convention center itself, including the ball room?

No. The Convention Center is outside of the hotel. You cannot have outside food or drink in the Convention Center.

permalinkI have already procured the Reistling *sp., for Kage, and the Sake. All I have to get yet is the 18 year Scotch for Giza, and the Rauchbeir for 2, and we can party. I am bringing Troeganator for you Rappy. And Some of the Captain for me.

If by "partners", you mean the Dorsai, yes, they were a strong influence in my ah, "Scotch education".
(In fact, as I write this, I am at Macron, working a contract with the Dorsai. And there is a bottle of a'bunadh Single Speyside Malt sitting next to me.

permalinkIf you need a place to hide your alcohol, I'll let you hide it in my room.

permalinkLOL Thanks for the offer, but it will be well taken care of. And it really won't last long enough for anyone to steal.

permalinkWhat? No.... I meant Rappy Raptor's alcohol. I was hoping to hide your alcohol in my belly.

permalinkOf course, I would expect "common sense" is expected,
that is, shouting and acting disorderly will make the hotel,
the Dorsai, the staff, and specifically Kage disappointed
in you. Each has their own way of expressing that disappointment,
none of them pretty.
Frankly, I don't see the point in travelling 1/2 across the
country (or even the state), planning on meeting friends and
going to events, and then getting drunk.
I keep tentatively scheduling "get a drink" right after my
LARP event ends each time, but each time, I don't feel the
need for alcohol, so I haven't yet. Then again, I used to
game at nightclubs a lot, so I at least have that excuse.

permalinkMy favorite use of booze at AC is to offset the Post con depression I get Sunday night. Worked well last year.

permalinkPCD... I was pretty down for a day or so after AC, being my first con last year. I went to Camp Feral, I was a little bummed out that it was over, but at the same time I was glad to get back home. Then I went to FC, only hard part was giving my farewell to Growl and Radjin after having a great time rooming with them, and was happy to get back home.

So with all this said, who's bringing booze and havign a very safe drunken fun time?

permalinkMe! Not very drunken, and always very safe.

permalinkIt looks like I won't be able to bring, 2, a 6 pack of Rauch beir, because they were sold out when I went to get it, and will not have any in before AC. I also am not bringing Rappy a bottle of, Dogfish head World Wide Stout, for the same reason. I will though have a case of Troeganator, and a case of Yeunling Lager. plus the assorted other stuff I am bringing.

permalinkYou know, when you're drinking remember one thing...it'd be nice if you could REMEMBER THE CON afterwards.

permalinkI got smashed out of my mind at FC, passed out for a bit in the bathroom (was a good sleep) and was a hurtin' unit the next day, but I still remember it all!

permalinkJust a note: Please don't get drunk and go into the conspace in that condition. I have a friend that did that at FWA and acted...not himself. Please drink responsibly, and don't drink if you're under 21.

permalinkYes, please drink responsibly. Every year we find some poor sot too far into his cups to walk that we have to practically carry him back to his room... and let me tell you, Kage's a LOT heavier than he looks..
Oh, wait, I've said too much.
No, really. If you're going to drinking, plan for it. Do it in a nice friendly room party and stay there. Drunks stumbling through the lobby never make the con look good.
