some fur posted something on another board about going to see the fireworks, so I figured id post it here and hope that everyone can coordinate it together. Hopefully that fur will catch on and come to this thread to toss in their two cents. As far as I know, sometime after 5PM we are gonna go find a spot to go watch fireworks. then, I dont know what will happen after that. Possibly a small dinner with some furry freinds, who knows. any ideas? CJ |

Hey CJ!
Id like to watch the fireworks with ya, or at least grab some actual food before I go on the "Con Diet" (Ramen, Pre-cooked foodstuffs with enough preservatives to kill a horse, Caffeine , etc. etc.}

"Fireworks are at 9:30 PM at Station Square. It's about a mile to the southwest of the Convention Center, on the Monongahela River.
Whether that's a good place to view them or not is a matter of debate. It's bound to be quite crowded. If you just go down to the river you are bound to find a nice spot to see them."

I'm thinking I'll be in early enough to see them, maybe!
If so, I am pretty sure SunShadow and Ibiza (and assorted folks) are going to be going, and so I'm probably going to tag along with them considering that my first night will be in Sun's room ;p

OK, then now we ought to think up a good spot to meet up prior to the fireworks. I would like to suggest we meet up at the steel city diner or possibly the Westin Lobby before going to see the fireworks.
Also, does anyone know the area and would like to direct us to a good spot to see the fireworks. It would have to be close enough to walk from the hotel, but not so far away that we couldn't see them at all. Gas prices are screwing us all over too much to drive a butt load of furs to see fireworks, not to mention the parking garages don't have come/go privileges so those that drove would have to pay for parking and finding a spot to park near where we watch fireworks would be a bad thing.
I honestly dont have anything against walking and I would enjoy walking a bit with a crowd of furs. I got one new fur coming with me, hes flying in and will arrive around 2, so we could easily show up on time.
So, we need two things, a location to meet up prior to going to see the fireworks, and also a location to actually WATCH them. Also need a time to meet prior to the fireworks.
I was thinking a restaurant around 6 or 7 PM to give everyone an hour to get there, get some food in yer bellies(leave the meet spot at 8 PM or so) and go watch them blow $#!& up. Plus we would have plenty of time to stroll around a bit before we would have to actually be there for the fireworks. As for a restaurant, I would suggest the Steel City Diner and I heard they had a pool on the roof/top floor of the hotel and it might prove to have an excellent view to watch the show. Though, I dont know if thats a rumor or what. Tis why im asking on here. Does anyone know where would be best to watch the fireworks.

Well, I know there is no pool on the roof on the Westin..heh. Woulda loved that last year! As for any of the others, from what Uncle Kage and the others have said, they dont think the hotel faces the right way to see them from there...

Love to attend something with you guys, but me and my mom are going to try to see the fireworks from the Pirate's stadium... apparently, there is a game that night, and we don't want to try to shove through a crowd to watch em.

I'd love to go ^_^ um as for meeting at the dinner could work (no idea where it is), but I've seen/heard not to meet up in the lobby .. So who ever is going that has a cellphone I can call when the time hits (send it to me through the contact option here.. I've just now thought to click that) So I can follow along with you!

I'm not sure if we have permission to use the convention center balcony to watch them on or not, but I know e-mail was sent to Uncle Kage asking about it.

You will not be able to see the fireworks from the Convention Center, I am told. The city fireworks are at Station Square, which is on the other side of the downtown area from the DLCC. The tall buildings will be in the way.
