General Hotel Opening

As of this writing, our new revised date and time for opening the General Hotel block (for Attending and Sponsors) is Thursday, February 8th at 5pm Eastern Time.

Some key details that you should take note of:

  • THE ROOM IS NOT HELD UNTIL YOU HAVE SELECTED IT AND THE GUEST INFORMATION PAGE COMES UP!

  • Booking links will be sent via EMAIL to all pre-registered attendees. If you register after February 8th at 5pm, you will find the booking link in your registration confirmation email.

Anthrocon 2024: General Hotel Booking Opening Delayed

announcement: General Hotel Opening Delay

During our Supersponsor hotel opening, we received multiple reports of issues with the booking software (Passkey) not properly holding attendees’ rooms during booking. We had initially tested this system with Passkey’s tech team, but further investigation revealed underlying issues with the implementation. The fix is currently being looked into by Passkey’s technical team, but we do not currently have a timeline on when it will be resolved.

As a result, we are delaying the General Hotel opening for Anthrocon 2024. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause for those who have planned for the February 2 hotel opening. However, we wish to avoid any additional frustration of our members by trying to book a hotel room when the system is not performing as expected. We also sincerely apologize to any of our Supersponsors who were impacted by this situation.

We are working as quickly as possible with our booking partners to get the root issues fixed and implemented. At the moment, we are targeting the week of February 5th to announce a new General hotel opening date. An email, along with social media announcements, will be sent to all pre-registered attendees once we have confirmed the new opening date. At this time, we will temporarily re-open our online registration for attendees. Anyone who is pre-registered at the time that the General hotel block opens, will be eligible to book a room at one of our partner hotels.

We ask for everyone's patience as we diligently work with our booking partners to resolve the system issues. Thank you for your patience.

Sincerely,

Anthrocon, Inc.

Questions

I already have a reservation through Orchid/Passkey, am I affected?
No, existing reservations that are confirmed are NOT affected. Questions about existing reservations can be emailed to [email protected] for assistance.

Did Anthrocon test this system (Passkey) before it was launched?
Yes, we worked directly with Passkey to review the implementation of the booking system and were re-assured that the system was ready. The problem was only identified during the Supersponsor opening on January 30th.

How much notice will we get when the General opening is rescheduled?
We will do our best to announce the new opening date at least three days in advance. We know this may affect attendees’ schedules and availabilities, and will take that into consideration .

Will this affect my chances of getting a room?
While availability at nearby hotels (such as the Westin, Courtyard, Drury) are limited at this point, all our hotels within our block that are available to book. We will have our complimentary shuttle service for all attendees to get to and from the convention during each event day.

Can I change my Registration status / level at this time?
We are re-opening Registration temporarily to allow attendees who didn’t register earlier to participate in the General opening. For questions about your existing registration, please email [email protected]

Anthrocon 2024: January Updates

We hope you’ve all had a great start to 2024 so far! As we continue to brace the cold winter weather and look forward to warmer times, we want to ensure you have all the important information related to the available hotels, booking process, and more - it’ll be a fast-paced start to this new year!

Registration

  • Temporary pause: In preparation for the opening of our Hotel block, online pre-registration will temporarily pause on January 30th and February 2nd at 11am Eastern Time. After February 2nd, online pre-registration will continue to remain open until June.

  • Membership levels: Supersponsor and Ultrasponsor levels have already sold out and we have introduced a limit on the number of Sponsors that we are selling for 2024; if you’re waiting to book, you may not get the level that you want.

  • Updates to Standards of Conduct: We have made some updates to our Standards of Conduct, which all membership holders of Anthrocon agree to follow. You can find the latest version on our Standards of Conduct page.

Hotels

We’ve updated all hotel information and rates for the 16 partnered hotels that will be available for Anthrocon 2024, and that we have secured a hotel block with specific discounts. You can view the different rates, room types, and more important information on our Hotel page - the below points are only the latest updates.

  • Booking link: Remember that the hotel booking links will ONLY be sent to the email that you registered for Anthrocon with. Rooms that are booked through other sources like a hotel’s website, a travel agency, calling in, or any other method will NOT be eligible for Anthrocon’s rates. We are also unable to assist with any reservations outside our block.

  • Booking dates: Booking links will be sent at 11am Eastern Time on dates based on Registration level, as detailed on our Hotel page. This starts with Ultrasponsors on January 25th, Dealers on the 27th, Supersponsors on the 30th, and everyone else pre-registered on February 2nd.

  • Suites: In previous years, suites have been offered through a different form process. This year, suites will be booked through the same booking link as standard rooms and follow the same booking dates as above, based on Registration level.

  • Backup option: The hotel booking process is VERY fast and rooms at the nearby hotels typically sell out quickly. You may wish to consider a backup hotel option if you’re not able to book the room you want, as we will have our free shuttle service running between the convention center and all hotels. You can view an example of the shuttle routes on our At The Convention page.

  • Deposits and Cancellations: A one-night deposit is NOT required for booking a room, but a valid credit card is still required to reserve. Cancellations can be made without penalty until end-of-day May 16th, 2024 - a one-night rate and tax penalty will apply after that.

Looking for rooms or roommates for Anthrocon 2024? We strongly advise attendees to make sure that you:

  • Verify any offer you receive, especially if it's someone you don't know.

  • Use caution if an offer looks too good to be true - it might be!

  • NEVER give out personal info, including payment, to someone you aren't comfortable with. If in doubt, you can always double-check someone’s details or if a room is legitimate.

DEALERS, Artists Alley, Art Show

Dealers for Anthrocon 2024 have now been approved, and approved dealers have been contacted to confirm acceptance.

  • Billing for approved Dealers: If you had indicated that you would provide specific communication/confirmation that the Dealers team can bill you, please do so as soon as possible. We require processing your Dealer fees before we can confirm your table placement, and allowing you to book in the Dealers hotel block.

  • Waitlist Dealers: Dealers not yet accepted are automatically added to the waitlist in the event that a cancellation occurs; if you wish to be taken off this waitlist, you must inform the Dealers team by email.

  • Artists Alley: As our Dealers coordination gets more manageable, we’ll be looking to open up our Artists Alley applications during the last week of January. These will be posted, along with updated documentation, to our Artists Alley page.

  • Art Show: The Anthrocon Art Show is tentatively scheduled to open for applications starting in the middle of February. We’ve got some major updates this year’s Art Show - stay tuned for more information, which will be shared through social media and on our Art Show page!

Anthrocon 2024: December Updates

‘Tis the season to be gathering with friends, family, and loved ones as the year winds down. We hope that you’ve had a great holiday season, and as we all look forward to a new year, we’ll be starting things on a high note in 2024.

Registration

Online pre-registration will continue to remain open until June. However, Supersponsor and Ultrasponsor levels have sold out and we have introduced a limit on the number of Sponsors that we are selling for 2024. Information on the different levels, pricing and other details can be found on our Registration page.

Remember that having a valid registration for Anthrocon is required in order to receive the hotel booking link. More details on Anthrocon’s hotels are provided in the next section.

Hotels

We’ve updated all hotel information and rates for the 16 partnered hotels that will be available for Anthrocon 2024. While we are working on sourcing more hotels based on our projected attendance, we encourage everyone to take a look through all the hotels and consider all the possibilities, as there may be a chance you don’t get the hotel you desire. However, all the hotels we’ve partnered with offer discounted rates compared to normal, and those outside the immediate vicinity of the convention center will offer a free shuttle service to any Anthrocon attendee. More details about booking dates and options can be found on our Hotels page.

Please keep in mind that hotel booking links will ONLY be sent to the emails of registered attendees - do not trust any links that are provided by non-Anthrocon sources. We’d also like to remind everyone to practice caution when looking for room shares, or if you’re approached by someone you don’t know about a room share.

Dealers

Dealers should expect to hear back about their application status no later than January 20th, 2024 so that there is some lead time before the Dealers hotel booking window opens (on January 27th) - we ask for a little more patience while they sort through hundreds of applications. If you have questions about anything else on your application, reach out to [email protected] and they’ll be glad to help. More general information about Dealers can be found on our Dealers page.

Panels, Events, and Performances

Online applications are now open for those that would like to host a panel or event at Anthrocon, or who’d like to showcase their talents on one of our live stages! This year the form has been consolidated into a single form for convenience, so please ensure that you’re filling out the right category. You can find all the information you need to know, along with the application link on our Events page!

Volunteering and Staffing

With our convention continuing to grow bigger and better each year, our team is also looking to grow in the same direction. From helping out in-person with crowd control and logistics to helping support and moderate our online community channels, we’d love to hear from you if you’re interested. It’s also a great way to gain practical experience in event running, get to know new friends, and give back to a great community. More information on opportunities and how to apply can be found on our Volunteer page.

On behalf of the volunteer and staff team behind Anthrocon, we hope you have a fantastic holiday season and see you in the new year!

Anthrocon 2024: Getting Things Kicked Off

It’s been a few months since our 2023 convention ended with high spirits and good memories! In case you missed our Closing Ceremonies in July, the convention reached new heights with:

  • 13,644 attendees (a 40% increase from 2022!)

  • 3,127 fursuit parade marchers

  • Over $52,000 donated to our 2023 Charity, Rabbit Wranglers

Now that we’ve had some time to rest, recuperate, and read all the wonderful feedback provided to us, we’re ready to kick things off for Anthrocon 2024 and begin planning in earnest.

Registration

Online pre-registration will be available starting on October 15th at 11am Eastern Time. There are many changes to take note of for 2024, including the availability of Ultrasponsor, Supersponsor, and Sponsor memberships. Pre-registering online is cheaper than waiting to register on-site, and will be important for booking a hotel room within Anthrocon’s block. Learn more on our Registration page.

Dealers Room

Our Dealers Room applications will be opening on October 15th at 11am Eastern Time and closing on November 15th, using the same link as the Attendee registration. However, make sure that you read over the Dealers Room Information Package (which will be finalized by opening) as it will contain important changes to note along with the passcode to apply as a Dealer. Learn more about Dealer table pricing and more on our Dealers page.

Hotels

Hotel bookings will be available to pre-registered attendees starting in:

  • Late January 2024 for Dealers, Ultrasponsors and Supersponsors

  • Early February 2024 for General booking

As with last year, the booking link will be sent out to all pre-registered attendees’ emails. We will also be temporarily shutting down online pre-registration between January 30th and February 2nd in preparation for the General booking - if you register after January 30th, the booking link will be included in your registration confirmation email.

Specific hotel rates and information will continue to be updated on our website in the next couple of weeks, and we will continue to work on improving the booking experience. Learn more about hotel options on our Hotel page.

Volunteering

With a convention growing as quickly as ours, we’ve updated our Volunteer page form for 2024 - if you’ve ever wondered what it takes to make a convention happen, or want to learn some new skills with a great team, there’s no better opportunity than with Anthrocon. Visit the Volunteer page for more details.

It’s a great way to learn about how they work, meet new people, and get rewarded based on volunteering time. Learn more information and sign up to volunteer on our Volunteer page!

COVID-19 & MASK POLICIES

Our most up-to-date Anthrocon 2023 COVID-19 and masking policies is available for viewing on the COVID-19 Policy page, although it is subject to changes and updates based on emerging data, as well as guidance, from government and health experts. All updates will be announced to attendees via our social media channels described above.

Our current mask policy is that proper masks (covering the nose and mouth) are required to be worn in specific high-density and high-contact areas of the convention center and hotels, including: Registration, Dealers Room, Artist’s Alley & Con Store, Art Show, Gaming Rooms and all Panel and Event Rooms. All other areas of the convention space will be mask-optional, and we strongly recommend fursuiters wear an appropriate mask underneath their costume heads to ensure they are compliant with our policy and minimize the chances of spread.
