Anthrocon strongly recommends that you plan your trip carefully using a paper map, or any of the online mapping programs such as Google Maps. I-376 is a major artery through Pittsburgh, so allow extra time for traffic delays at rush hour.

From the North:

Take Interstate 79 South to Interstate 279 South. Follow the signs to Interstate 579 South and cross over Veterans Bridge. Take the 7th Avenue Exit. Proceed to the second light and turn right. Pass the next light; the hotel driveway is on the right.

Travel By Train

Anthrocon members who live in the Northeast Corridor and the upper Midwest may wish to consider taking a train to Anthrocon. It is more convenient than driving, and usually costs less than air fare. Amtrak offers rail service to the Pittsburgh Rail Station, which is right across the street from the Westin Hotel, at 1100 Liberty Ave.

Travel By Bus (Greyhound)

Greyhound operates a bus terminal at 990 2nd Avenue in Pittsburgh. Note that this is not the station that is only about three blocks from the convention center. That station is under construction and is not expected to be finished before the convention begins.

Your best bet if you do not have a ride from the bus station to the Convention Center is to take a cab. It should not be more than a few dollars. The phone number for Yellow Cab is 412-665-8100.

Travel By Sea

In theory, it is possible to make it to Anthrocon entirely by water, but it would mean coming in via New Orleans, as that is the only place where an unbroken course of water enters into the sea.

These directions are provided courtesy of Sci:

Travel north on the Mississippi River past New Orleans and Baton Rouge, through 4 national parks along the border of Louisiana and Mississippi.
Bear right (east) at Arkansas until you hit Memphis.
Proceed North by North East until you reach the Southern part of Illinois.
Follow the river North East until Evansville then East until Louisville.
Go North East again until you reach Cincinnati. The river can still be seen at half-zoom resolution on Google Maps, so it should be big enough.

Liberty Center Garage (underneath the Westin)

Self Park (for guests staying at the Westin):

Parking is $10 flat fee per 24 hour period. This garage has a clearance of 7'4".

Note: If you call the hotel, they will tell you parking is $20. This is because guests of the Westin will be given a coupon that will give them a rate of $10 per night, good in the Westin parking garage only.

From April 1, 2008 to July 4, 2008, the Westin garage will be undergoing renovation. Parking will be limited and MAY NOT be available when you arrive. Please be prepared to seek alternative parking arrangements as detailed below.
