Motorcycle convey to anthrocon

maybe not the best spot but seems close enough.
I would like to setup a convey(safe group of travelers) of motorcycles (any cruisers,touring,sport,dual-sport, but keep in mind we will probably be taking the turn pike and would like to keep the speed above 50 when safe) going to anthrocon leaving the day the con starts(july 2nd 2009) the group will travel from southeastern pa to the con, if there is any questions on this please give me a call at 610.716_8060 ask for phil or icepaws. The idea of this is to use your own motorcycle, and as a group we will be noticed and less risk of something happening, there is a possibility for other meetup points but other groups must organize there meetup.

I'm just throwing this out there, that I'll be sitting at the convention center early evening on the 24th. of June and will be at the convention center helping out where I can. Anyone flying into Pittsburgh international and doesn't want to get wallet slashed on cab prices hit me up. I honestly do not mind picking up anyone at the airport for this event though I cant pick up everyone. I have enough space for 3 people giving slightly limited luggguage space though two people with plenty of cargo space. Interested please post and I'll do my best to arrage a pickup.

I have room for 1 (or 2 with small luggage) from the DC Metro area, leaving early Thursday morning and returning mid-day Monday.

Picking up a passenger at IAD at 7am Thursday morning, then heading from there up to Pittsburgh. Dropping passenger off at 7pm Monday evening, so we have to leave in time to get him there.

I also have parking available at my house if you want to drive in from out of the area and share a ride the rest of the way.

Here's the plan:

I am leaving my house at around 7:30am-8am Thursday the 26th and coming back sometime in the afternoon on Sunday the 29th.

The drive up will take approximately 6+ hours to complete. I have planned my route to use Routes 17, 50 and 522. I-70 and I-76 will finish it up. I'm willing to pick up someone within reason.

Having space to put things isn't an issue. Reimbursement for some tolls and gas keeps me a happy dragon. Also hope to see 28-29 MPG going up and back.

I probably left out some important information somewhere. Ask questions if you'd like.

Hey all, I've got a spot or two (depending on one of my friends whom I will badger later) open if anyone needs a ride from new jersey. I would prefer not going too far out of the way, in fact, my apartment is right nearby the Denville NJTransit station, so even if you're from nyc you could hop the train and meet me there.

I drive a 2006 saturn ion, not the biggest car out there but it gets 30 MPG. I would expect some reimbursements for gas~ I would like to leave shortly after the morning rush hour in the hopes of beating the afternoon rush hour around Pittsburgh.

Hey all!

I'm driving to the con, leaving EARLY Thursday and arriving around 2PM for check-in. (3 is the opening for check-in, I want to be there early)

I'm located in Roanoke VA, and can offer 1-2 furs space. (I have a small-ish car, and a suit to take with me)

Smoking is permitted, and everything will be shared expense. (Gas, tolls, etc.)

Return trip will be permitted, with the understanding that it will be shared expense as well. (Gas, tolls, etc.)

If you are on the way to the 'con from Roanoke (I-95, anywhere close-ish) I will be available for pick-up.

Luggage will have to be limited to necessities only. The trip back from the con will yield swag from the dealer's room, and that's to be expected. We'll make it work.

It seems like driving might be the best way to for me and my boyfriend to get out to Anthrocon, however, given the distance, it wouldn't hurt to see if anyone wants to hop along and share gas costs (even for a small distance)

It would be interstate driving almost the entire ride, so...if you live along I-90, I-80,or I-76 and need a ride, just drop me a line in whatever way.

For those who are interested: There will be room for luggage, art supplies or fursuits(I have a fursuit, but its small, and we both pack light), there will probably be snacks, we like to hit rest stops often for sanity sake (this is good for smokers, since there's no smoking in the car, sorry!)and we're generally easy going folks, going on a vacation for the first time since we started college.

I;m driving to AC again this year and have room for up to 3 others and your stuff, have a large 4 door truck and a big back end which is covered from weather .
I plann on leaving on wednesday toward the early afternoon from the naples area of ny, I work out toward geneva and could pick you up on my way from that area in the morning.
My planned route will take us thru the southern tier of ny down rt 17-86 to erie then rt 79 to pittsburg. planning on making a few stops on the way down for food /fuel/ ect .
All i ask is that ya chip in for some of the fuel cost which wouldnt be a whole lot as i get pretty good milage the the truck,
Hit me up if your interested in riding to and from the con .

Leaving early/mid Thursday, coming back late Monday. Planned route is take the 270, then the 70, the 76, and so on. 2 in my SUV so far, room for 1-2 more, depending on luggage. I'm taking care of all of the driving. I can pick up as far south as Woodbridge/Manassas, or anywhere that's along the way. Even split of all driving expenses (gas and parking), which will probably be in the area of 160-200 bucks total (depending on cost of gas and where we end up parking and such). Well seeing as how RoadCon kinda fell apart at the seems (cardboard and scotch tape doesn't hold very well) I guess I'll have to go with Plan B. Plan be is simply "Do any of you bitches still need a ride to AC?" Cause I'm still going and gas prices I'm betting will be about 4.20 a gallon by the time AC rolls around. Hell, it's almost $4 right now. So ya same ride as mentioned in the RC thread: roomy police cruiser can carry up to three people. I would really like at least 2 riders because I'm looking at about $300 in gas both ways.

As a side note, not to kill the RoadCon thread completely I'm going to take info here since the last thread got a little complicated for me to read, sue me. So if any of those drivers or passengers would still like to meet or need a ride let me know.

I'll accept most passengers as long as 1. they pay for some gas and 2. they don't have alot of junk to carry to and from the con (unless I get only one person)

Well, I originally had planned to drive a two-seater up to AC with a certain special someone at his request, but he's not going to be able to come, it seems, and as such I am just going to take my station wagon, which is good because it means I actually have trunk space lol But long story short, I am going to be driving from Alabama to the DC/Virginia line to pick up someone, and am willing to pick up one or two more people along the way (don't want to go more than, say, an hour out of the way though, meaning 30 minutes each way to get back en route). I will be leaving either like... around midnight Wednesday night or extremely early Thursday morning, and will be starting out in Central Alabama. Leaning towards sometime between 10PM wed and 1AM thurs, so depending on how far along you are will decide when you'd get picked up. My only requirements are that you're 18+, chip in for gas (obviously) and are not bringing like... fifteen trunks of stuff.

Well see... its complicated. lol. i do have a car, gas moneys, can drive, etc. however i don't have my license yet. I hope to be getting it later this month. but if i don't, from where i stand right now, I would be SOL for the con. So I'm really hopping to find some one else close by that has there license and wants to ride with me. or let me ride with them. I can drive. but thats a loong trip for a newbie. so even if i DO get my license and CAN drive the whole way by my self. some company would be great =^_^= im nearly always at my computer, IM me anytime. realllly hope to find some one soon.

Ill start by saying that I cant guarantee that if you need a ride, we can even have room for you, let alone be able to stop and pick you up, so if you do need a ride, you should make a good effort to describe where exactly you are and how much stuff you will be bringing. Be sure to get ahold of me LONG in advance.

With that being said, ill move immediately into our plans for the convoy.

It leaves Wednesday morning at 5 AM from the following address, which happens to be a Wendy's restaurant.

The plan is to meet up at the wendy's about 4:30 AM, leave at 5(or after everyone gets there) and drive to the con. We leave at such an early hour to avoid the morning rush hour that will be going on in the city about 8-9AM. Plus, there will be little traffic along the way, so keeping track of all vehicles will be easy.

Starting around Fredericksburg, VA. Rt 17 N to I66 W to I81 N to I70 W @ Winchester to I76 W all the way to Pittsburgh.

Hopefully, someone can follow that. But here's a link to Yahoo maps with the directions. I can adjust my route some to accommodate any riders within reason.

I have plenty of room for 1-3 people (Maybe just up to 2 cause of other's luaggage)
I pack light so luggage,for me, wont be an issue

I will gladly give a ride if its not TOO FAR from my route.
I wish I could drive far to pick people up but my car is not the most economic car in the world.......V6.....Murr

Split gas, tolls are on the house. We'll be stopping off for lunch, and stopping at Linganore Wineries in Frederick along the way(No more than 2 hour detours in total).
Heading up Wednesday afternoon.
Good conversation, Heavy metal/mix music.
This'll be a total of three people in the car(You'll probobly have a back seat to yourself, or you and some fursuit pieces).

Can pick up as far south as Northern Virginia, or as far north as Annapolis.
