This is the first time I've attended AC in awhile; my last experiences with con security were a little rougher and a lot more sparse. This year, every security person I worked with was pleasant, no matter what situation or how harried they were, and I actually had some great conversations with your staff and volunteers while dealing with the stress of the job you have before you.
So: thank you for maintaining the fine (and difficult) balance of safety and friendliness during the weekend, thank you to the unnamed DI who made me laugh by very seriously pointing "badger... badger.. badger-- MUSHROOM!.. badger.." while admitting folks through the dealer's room door, and thank you to the EMT and DI at Con Ops who helped me with a minor injury Sunday afternoon.
Hope to see you all later this year at FurFright!
Oh -- and thank you for teaching me about scotch too.
You are quite welcome. We do conventions cause we enjoy doing it. And I'm glad we could make you smile and a bit of entertainment along the way.
The Dorsai were exemplary last year when I attended, and they were exemplary this year as well. Last year, one member of the Dorsai was just a little less polite than he could have been when I was trying to get onto an elevator, but it was also Saturday night and he was probably very tired. Frankly, the Dorsai do a spectacular job directing 4500 furries with a minimum of heartache, and they've never been anything but helpful and prompt in my presence even when I ask the derpiest questions in the world. ("Where is the <blah> room?" "Right next to you." "...I'm an idiot.")
The Dorsai did an awesome job. I don't have any previous experience working with them, but I can say they did a lot better then other security staff that I have worked with/had to deal with. I never had any problems, which is always good, because hassles slow me down, and I am a fast wolf. I like to get stuff done, and the people who I dealt with respected that. I'm fully confident that they would lay down the law, if i was doing something I shouldn't have been doing, though, so 's good! Looking forward to dealing with them next year!
The Dorsai were great, and quite friendly.
I especially loved them running the elevators in the lobby, since it really made things easier.
(The only thing that I was kinda disappointed over, was that I had seen a video of the Dorsai singing at closing ceremonies of a past AC, and had hoped to see them do so in person.)
I'm considering asking for a concert slot next year. It'll depend on what our staffing level looks like.
Definately thanks to the Dorsai. Good for security, elevator coordination, and really neat conversations about stuff.
I concur with all of the above big thank yous to the dorsai. You all did an amazing job.
