She did my suit, and it is AMAZING!  =)

I don't know of a single fursuit maker out there who doesn't do free quotes.  Would seem rather unproductive if it wasn't free.

You have to go to her webpage and pick what you want....then she emails you a quote.....Just basic stuff, like how much a suit would be with toony eyes/digitigrade legs/static jaw/claws etc.   Any details about design are done after.  She also has character sheets on her webpage.

Personally I like monoyasha and onef fur all, but you have to find fursuit makers who suit your tastes. Taking your budget into consideration, what style you want, what species your fursona is, and things like that are to be taken into consideration as well.

Some fursuit makers are much more expensive than others, it's better to look through a vast amount of them to make sure you're getting the suit YOU want. Furaffinity is a good place to start, fursuit.com and the fursuitdatabase are also good places to look.

I understand your dissapointment, but that's a reasonable choice of your Dad. They do cost quite a bit, and you might have a late growth spurt before you turn 18. If he's willing to let you do some building wokr, though, that sounds good: the cost is usually quite a bit less, and it's a valuble way to learn sculpting, sewing, and other creative and home-ec sorts of skills that aren't taught as much nowadays.

When I made my fursuit I probably spent around $300-400 on materials.  Think it took me around 2 months to make.  If you are going to do some research I would suggest you check out Matrices' website: http://www.matrices.net/fursuiting.asp .  I also found some of Tani DaReal's site helpful where she shows how she made 3 of her suits:

Yeah. He wasn't going to let me have one at all but after like a week of asking every chance I got I asked him of I could build one and he did the whole sigh maybe thin and that means yes. So I asked him the next day he said I could make it but not wear it and than I said even if I send months making it -puppy eyes- and the he sighed and said yes
