Travel By Airplane

  • Which airport should I fly in to?
  • Pittsburgh is served principally by Pittsburgh International Airport, airport code PIT. It is the highly recommended airport for travel to Anthrocon due to its variety of airlines, its proximity, and the availability of public transportation.
Arnold Palmer Regional Airport (LBE) or Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport (YNG) may be a consideration for those traveling from Florida, but both require a car rental and over an hour of driving to reach Pittsburgh.

  • How can I get a cheap fare?
  • Be sure to check across multiple airlines, multiple days, and multiple times on any given day. Sites such as Travelocity or Kayak will let you sort flights by price, as do a number of other booking websites.

  • Driving From Pittsburgh International Airport:
  • From the airport, get onto PA route 60 SOUTH. After about 2.5 miles the road name changes to US route 30. Follow US 30 East for about 3.8 miles, when it changes again to I-279 N. Follow that about 6.3 miles, through the Ft. Pitt Tunnels and across the Ft. Pitt Bridge. Take Exit 6C, for Ft. Duquesne Blvd. Follow sign to Convention Ctr./Strip District on the 10th Street Bypass. The Convention Center on right, and is the size of a city block. It will be hard to miss.

  • Is there a shuttle from the airport to the hotel?
  • The following options are available. NOTE!!! Prices are subject to change. We cannot stay on top of every single price change associated with travel to Pittsburgh, so we strongly advice you to use the prices below as guidelines only and to double-check with the carrier directly before you leave.

    1. The 28X "Airport Flyer" Bus. Thanks to J.F. for pointing this out to us! It is convenient if you do not have a lot of luggage. It stops at 7th and Smithfield, about 3 blocks from the hotel. The driver can point you in the right direction when you get off. The fare is $3.75 -- have exact change ready! -- and the ride is approximately 40 minutes.

More information about the 28X can be found at the Port Authority of Allegheny County's website.
