The Anthrocon 2016 Programming Schedule is Available For Review
Here it is! The first look at the Anthrocon 2016 schedule! We're using Sched again this year:
Q: Will there be a printed schedule this year?
Yes, absolutely. Our Publications Pony Xydexx is hard at work at on it.
Q: What if I see an error in the schedule?
Do you see any typos, events at the wrong time, events without descriptions, or things that just don't make sense? Let us know either by sending us an email or in the comments below. We are publishing the schedule extra early this year so as to get as many eyes on it as possible before the schedule is printed.
Oh hey, my panel's up ("Fursuit Construction 101")! I'm a bit lost, though, as I plan to be the only speaker (not "Young Furs") and my full name (which I'm slightly sensitive about) is on the schedule. Would it be possible to change that?
If it helps at all my Sched is Sarahcat and I marked it for attending, I just thought I was hosting it myself...
That should be fixable. Sorry for the error!
Oh no, it's alright, thank you so much! <3
That must have been my error Sara. Old fish eyes is all I can say, are to blame
Fixing it now! Sorry about that! It should be all fixed up. I think we had a wire crossed during hand offs between people. I apologize for this!
It's alright, I really appreciate it! Do you think the description can be changed? I see the event host name was changed but my legal name is still in the description, can that be changed to "Sarahcat" or can the description for the event possibly be the one I submitted when I applied?
Yes! The macro/micro meet doesn't conflict with the recess games this year. Don't change it.
Will a PDF of the Pocket Program version of this be made available?
It's hard to get a sense of what overlaps what from that sched.org version...
I don't see either of the show events I submitted (confirmation that both were received by Waylon 'Ashe' Darosh, Programming Department was received via e-mail on 9 Feb 2016.)
Hey Cosmik! Sorry about that. Let me do a sweep to see where I misplaced them on my piles of paper and I will get them in ASAP.
I've been going to Anthrocon since 2009 and this looks like the most interesting so far. I foresee much drama from the conflicts 6 to 8 Friday night, though. You have Fans of Zootopia against the Furries movie against 2's Rant against other hard choices.
(hard choices) like half of MLP (and I assume the ban on fan videos is still on for that?).
I thought the same thing. I'm packed Friday and Sarurday with panels but Friday evening is going to be very interesting.
Hard choices are just one of those things I've learned to deal with, I'd LOVE to attend Zootopia..but would be quite crude of me to leave my Blizzard panel which is at the same time, so will just sneak into zootopia for the second half(Also missing half of the fursuit recess games), Tough choices are part of the con..,,thankfully my insanity of having early morning prefs is keeping my Dinsey Fur panel from rubbing against anything else this year
-edit-(NEVER MIND, i must be going blind)
Um, not sure if this is an oversight/mistake or its just not being held this year, but noticed no mention of either of the normal fursuit game panels, just remarking since they've been run every year I've attended thus far
I noticed on Saturday morning at 10 am you have two fursuit maintenance/care panels at the same time. And the "conventions on the cheap", too. I would strongly suggest spreading them out, maybe have one on Friday or Sunday.
Thank you for your feedback.
Aw, I'm sad to see there was no dragon/reptiles meetup this year, I was really hoping to attend it Unless I overlooked it.
Aye, it would be very nice to get together with our fellow kin. ohwell
My son, Thorfax, has done the scalies meet up for the past 2 years. Because of his job, he was unsure that he'd make it to AC this year, so he didn't submit the panel. Thankfully, he is able to go, but it's too late to submit a panel now.
Missing? Masquerade Rehersal info/slot for Saturday Morning. DLCC 9am-noon, if memory serves?
Coulda sworn it was 8am last year, which might still be a good idea since half the people wanting to perform usually end up late anyway XD
How come my Are you a werewolf panel is over in the DLCC on Friday? Normally it's in the Westin. Also, there seem's to be both aLupus in Tabula game that I am hosting, and an Are you a werewolf game on Saturday night.
I bet I was the reason fox amoores jazz night became 18+ wasnt I?
Not seeing registration opening times on there. When will it be this year?
Registration hours are as follows:
Thursday: Noon to 2:00pm (pre-reg only), 2:00pm to 10:00pm.
Friday: 9:00am to 10:00pm
Saturday: 10:00am to 6:00pm
Sunday: 10:00am to 4:00pm
Well, I for one am happy to see that not only do we now have an insects meet & greet, but it's held after dealer hours so I won't need to abandon my post to attend. Hooray!
Still waiting for the description on my panel to change...
I think Ashe may not have seen your comment. I fixed your name in the description on Sched at least, since I owed him a favor.
And that you did. I appreciate it so much, thank you!
I hate making all these changes, but would it also be possible to make my panel from 1:00 to 2:00 instead of 2:30? That's a lot of talking time and I have a panel to catch at 2. I hope that's okay!
You don't HAVE to run your panel during the whole time listed on the schedule. That's just the time that's set aside for your panel in that room. You can always just say that the panel is only going to run for an hour, and leave it at that
Oh! Really? I've never run a panel so I wasn't sure how it goes.
I can't help but notice that my Zootopia fan discussion panel has been given a two-hour block of time on Friday night, when I only asked for one hour. Not sure whether this should be corrected on the schedule, or just left as is, since excitement and enthusiasm for this film on the part of its fans might indeed provide enough material and talking points to sustain two hours of talk time. Just be aware that I really don't plan on preparing any sort of presentation that could fill up a full two hours, so it will be up to the audience to carry it that far. Think we're up for the challenge, my fellow Zootopians?
Well I certainly HOPE you can carry it, becuase i'd like to at least see something, but got my Blizzard Fur panel at the start so even if it doesn't run the full hour(Don't expect it too) i'll miss alot, but thats me being selfish, if you dont't use all the time the world won't end, its more problematic when you go over..or two things are put in the same slot..
Encouraging words, Thor and Talon. I shall keep them in mind. Just been in touch with Soggy about this very matter, and he seems to think a 2-hour block on a subject as popular as Zootopia is probably a good idea, and given the way I can hold forth on a subject near and dear to me, maybe I just might be able to fill up most of that time - especially if the audience really helps me out. But a co-moderator would really be a big help along those lines too, so still hoping I can land one between now and the con.
Quite true, Wing. Quite true.
I hate it, when I am having a great time at an AC panel, when the presenters say "Sorry folks, but we're out of time. We need to clear the room for the next panel."
I doubt that we'll need all of the two hours, But with the way that this fandom has taken Zootopia to it's heart, I was worried that Highwing wouldn't have time to cover everything that he is planning to. (Especially since Wing recently floated the idea of doing some kind of free prize giveaways.)
We are still hashing out the feasability and details of the giveaways. (Random drawing of free tickets? Winners of some kind of trivia-contest?)
But right now, I am waiting for an answer on my now-two-week-old request to Programming for any guidelines, requirements and/or permissions we might need, to do some kind of free giveaway at an AC panel.
But until I get a "No" from programming, I'm assuming that it is "Yes". (I have seen the exact same thing that Wing is considering, at other AC panels in the past.)
My biggest worry is whether or not they gave us a big enough room... Cambria ain't exactly the biggest room in the Westin...
If you're making or purchasing your own prizes to give away, there is nothing wrong with handing out prizes of some kind during your panel. Last year, I ran a panel and handed out some hand-made badges as some prizes for a trivia type thing.
Thanks, Thorfax! That's all we needed to know!
Programming responded to my original request, asking for clarification that "No money would be changing hands." And asked for a response from me.
I responded: "Correct. No money will be changing hands."
But they never got back to me with a definitive Yes/No answer.
No one has responded to my comment for clarification about why my Are you a werewolf game is now in room 407 of the DLC. Normally those games are in the Westin that late at night, and I'm not seeing any thing that time frame that would prohibit it. Could someone get back to me on this? Also, and this is in no way a complaint, but I see we have my Lupus in Tabula game on Saturday, and another Are you a werewolf. One's in the pennsylvania, and Mine is in the Westmoreland. Do you think there would be an objection to combining them?
On a different note, Highwind, if you are looking for a Co host, let me know. I not only have hosted a few panels before and this year, as you can see, but I LOVED the movie. Saw it like 6 times. Let me know if you still need a cohost.
Since the forums are busy, they may have missed your comment. Any questions regarding programming are best e-mailed directly to .
Hey, just a quick note, I don't actually put together the Pocket Program. That would be our hard-working staff member Sage Firefox!
I submitted a panel suggestion - "Born this (Furry) Way?" about people who felt "furry" before discovering the fandom - and was told it had been approved and would be scheduled. I looked at the schedule today and didn't see it; what happened?!!!
When might we get the schedule for this year?
At best, four weeks before the convention. Possibly as little as two weeks.
Since all panels at Anthrocon are run by fans, they have to wait a reasonable length of time for suggestions to be submitted, and then they have to try and schedule them.
